Oh and congrats on 50
This was okay I would have to say his weakest release. It did have some moments though you are right. Self Savior is amazing.

He needs to work with better people

Congrats man.
Won't be picking this up then, I've never really got into Talib though. other than his work on Black Star.

Will definitely looking into this, although Kweli is nowhere as good as Nas or KRS One his rhymes always breathe some good into the staleness of modern day hip-hop.
|

you know shit about hip hop son.

First paragraph is great, totally agree.

yea Talib raps about the same shit a lot, but that goes for about 95% of rappers out there... I like him in Black Star and Reflection Eternal, but everything after Quality by him solo-wise was pretty uninspiring from what I've heard.
|
| |
Caleb, you're gonna make me cry
|
| |
Talib always slays when he is a guest on other records, but is only okay when he does his solo stuff.

just skimmed through the review, but I noticed a couple mistakes:
"Granted Kweli's been granted"
It's not a huge deal because of the differences between grammar in the United States and England, but in the U.S., periods and commas always go inside quotation marks.
"'Mr International' represents the first serious flaw with the album however; there's nothing truly criminal..."
Supposed to be, "'Mr International' represents the first serious flaw with the album; however, there's nothing truly criminal..."
(or to be fair, watch the mainstream cast an easy eye over him)
watched
"but there are little moments here and there where everything just feels a little empty."
"But there doesn't seem to be anything higher for Talib to achieve though,"

Nice one Dev. Can't say I'm digging this though.

it's not a deal at all

My mind just automatically sees it as a grammatical mistake because of my upbringing.

I'm probably one of the worst self editors, and I always have this habit of repeating words in the same sentence. Much appreciated Dostoevsky

no problem :]
Good review btw, I might check this out, but Black Star is really the only thing I like from Talib that I've heard.
