Great review; pos.

And I still don't get why you removed the review first time around, tbh.

Based on what I know of your tastes and your opinion of Dead Oceans, you'll probably enjoy this quite a bit

And I still don't get why you removed the review first time around, tbh.

Because it was uploaded not even a day after the stream was first made available. It was very possible that the album would grow off after some more listens and after the excitement of having a new Ulcerate album would wear off. Obviously, though, my opinion remains unchanged.

I'm sure I'll love it. Everything is Fire is awesome so I can't see this being any different, considering what everyone is saying.

i tried to listen to EiF once (or a piece of a song or two) and I just couldn't get into it. I will give this a shot.

This one is slightly more atmospheric than EiF but they're pretty much the same album. So yeah you should.

Hawks, this is somewhat different than EiF. It's not as uptempo, and there's way less of the Immo/Gorguts influenced riffs. It focuses more on atmosphere instead

Good review!

But if I may point out a few things, I dnt really agree with the comparison to Immolation here; in part because you make Ulcerate sound more sophisticated than Immolation and thus make a contentious point, but mostly because they don't have a similar sound, really. Sure they might have instrumental similarities (worth noting, the band members once said in an interview that immolation's musical style is exemplary) but the overall sound of the two are quite quite different. Besides, u urself address that "the two bands are both different" so I'm not sure if there is a need to compare the two at all. I think Ulcerate's sound is established enough to hold its own without necessitating a reference to albeit more established sounds like Immolation.

Also...this part: "perhaps the most intelligent contemporary metal band".

Hope I don't come off as being rude here :P u did a great job and its a solid review overall

Album is a solid 4, just like Everything is Fire. Could go up in the future.

The intro to Dead Oceans is massive. Some solid drumming.
