Just to clarify, I realize that this not a proper black metal album. That is why I mentioned that it is "heavily rooted in a folk metal sound" and then later added that the shrieked vocals are the "sole black metal element." For the purposes of the introduction though I felt it was sufficient to label it as a black metal album as that was my first impression.
| | | Yeah I'd say it's like a whole lot of Agalloch with a good chunk of old Katatonia that isn't quite as good as either influence.
| | | What did you think of the review Cry(i)sis?
| | | It was good, if a bit conversational for my taste (not a fan of using I, me, you, etc) but informative regardless. I'm not sure if I went into this expecting a bunch of major key driven riff patterns but I can see why someone may think that. Pos'ed.
| | | Thanks! I tried writing a bit more conversational just for a change, I think it turned out pretty well.
| | | Ali! I realize that I'm late to the party, but fashionably late, of course ;D Very good review for a third - definitely informative and easy to read. I haven't heard this yet, but based off what Crysis is saying, I likely wouldn't enjoy this much. I'll look into it though, whenever I get a chance. Again, good review man, I look forward to reading more from you in the future.
