pretty sure I got the spelling of his name right, unless you mean that Ä on his last name... i didn't want to mess with the site's formatting or something, so I didn't put that in the review

regardless, its cool to see many of the band's fans show up here and at least support the band. thanks for the comments.

You talk about creativity then 5 an album that is about as generic and lazy as melodic death metal can be.

lol

sigh... the band is trying to contact me on facebook. Every time i write a negative review for an album this happens. The label or the band gets furious.

Seriously? Never had that happen, not even once. Too bad, though, if their label gets furious, they were the ones who signed a dime-a-dozen band.

Yeah i know, I guess at times I can be harsh in what I write, but I mean when you make music you have to realize there is gonna be backlash, at least a little. I guess they are worried it will affect album sales, but if the band is as good as they say, then they should have nothing to worry about...

Imagine how nickelback feels haha

Hahaha they don't care whatsoever because when they get their paychecks all the criticism washes away.

Great review Jared, as per usual. And Crysis, did you not rate Holographic Universe a 4? If so then how can you dislike anything Alvestam has done since Symetric?

I never said I disliked it, I don't. I just said his vocal performance deteriorated since Symmetric In Design and got fairly repetitive.

Might not be a 5/5 but it's still an excellent album. I do think however they could of done without some of the guests though as having this many reminds almost of a hip hop album.

I also have to agree with the author that some of their best material on the album is the songs without guests.

TL, DR: 2 was a bit harsh.

2 was perfect. This is about as watered down as you get. Great review as per usual.

Eh, album is alright. I agree it's run of the mill melodic death, but most of the songs are quite decent to me. It's just that this band does absolutely nothing to separate them from other bands in the genre, making them just another small fish in the big deep ocean.

Älvestam's vocals sound really good on here, but man, he singing does start to sound the same everywhere. You could copy/pasta his vocal parts from this record to Holographic Universe and it would fit in perfectly. Then again, that album is on a whole different level.

lmao at the 5's this has gotten. This was more slightly-less-than-mediocre than 90% of movie sequels.

I swear that most people on this website are complete idiots. Music is very subjective which means that we all have different opinions. Just because one person reviewed this on here as poor doesn't necessarily mean it is. I think this album is pretty damn good, and how can you deny that Christian Alvestam is an amazing vocalist. So for those of you who are taking this reviewer's word for it, go listen to some songs on youtube and see for yourself. I personally think this reviewer is a dumbass and has no clue what he is talking about. This album is nothing groundbreaking but it definitely does not deserve a poor rating by any means. I would give it a 3.5 or a 4.0.
Check out the songs:

Sum of the Universe
