Casually jamming this now and it's kinda silly how, three tracks in, I'm feeling hints of bands that might've been influenced by this, from later sludge bands to Meshuggah. Definitely like it more than Slint already (but I don't like Slint anyway lol).

I there are some vocal rhythms on here that reminded of Jens' vocal attack style, is what I was thinking. But I have no idea now lol.

I obviously have a different musical opinion, but I feel like this has so much more 'oomph' than Spiderland.
It's not a bad album don't get me wrong, but it dragged on for me. This one is much more consistent and has some great peak moments.

I feel like spiderland finished with a bang regardless

Yeah I don't dislike it, it's just not as good

it’s so boring to just compare this to slint
it stands well on its own guys, it’s not like slint are the only or first band to use spoken vocals and shit

To you I guess but we're allowed to

it’s the only thing people talk about when they discuss this band, it’s old

We all get old someday

track 1 is a great piece of music
but it does not prepare you for what is to come

slint cover band

Thinking man's hardcore if anything since this isn't that much post-rock even for the time period.

any trem crescendos here?
|
| |
those weren't really a thing in 94. Idk when those really started happening but I'd say maybe with like Sigur Ros(??), Godspeed, or Mogwai. Early "post" rock was way more krautrock than crescendo-y.
