Jesu is drone really, I never got why they were lumped in with Post-Metal. I mean, I do, seeing as they're fronted by J.K. Broadrick, but sonically, the only similarity is the length of the songs.

Goddammit this is heavy.

can I reiterate how insanely badass the solo at the end is? it's actually one of the most orgasm-inducing moments in my entire iTunes library.

Hallelujah! This is seriously one of the hardest to find albums out there...and while I didn't find a physical version, it is listed at 99 cents on Amazon for the full album MP3! Awesome

You should be. And Caleb Scofield was off sick so they had Stephen Brodsky on vox and bass too. He's a fucking beast.
|
| |
And holy fucking shit again, definitly the ultimate sludge/pm/whatev track
|
| |
K saw them live, it was really fantastic the sound they had man, they played this (no need to say how awesome it was) and even did an encore involving shit loads of feedback and Aaron Turner spinning around his guitar amongst the public so that we could participate in the noisefest (guys is a beast too damn), plus according to the drummer it was their first encore ever so yeah really good night (not to mention The Circle who were hilarious).

how similar is this to Isis?
|
| |
Hmm it takes a lot to the Celestial era Isis sound during the heavier and rawer parts but with ambient elements that feel closer to Tribes of Neurot, however the actual structure for this song is very much constructed like a Goodspeed track (in the booklet you even see that the track is decomposed by the band in multiple parts in the same way goodspeed cuts the tracks in LYSF). The solo has nothing to do with Isis, it's just Aaron having a good time
|
| |
Never listened to Tribes of Neurot but I'll check for the Goodspeed comparision, I'm also imagining something like Mogwai Fear Satan as well. Besides, Celestial has to be between my 3rd/4th fav work from Isis so that alone will do.
|
| |
Love Celestial too, if you haven't picked up the remaster I'd say it's def more than worth it too
|
| |
Yes, it solves every problem it had before. They should have mesh it with SGNL>05, that would have been awesome.
