The Myspace tracks are cool. I think the female vocals would take some getting used to, but they're not bad. Nice review.

She's got a great voice, but kind of does overuse it.
|
| |
i would like a couple softer moments vocally but i dont find it an issue overall. the vocal hooks in
Out for Blood, Champagne, and Fruit Juice are fucking ace.

Album Rating: 3.5
Fruit Juice is prob my favorite track. I mean it's all solid stuff...kind of reminds me of Maps & Atlases with Laura Nichols doing vocals or something. Just about any band with this kind of guitar work is going to be solid, I just wish more bands would try to think outside the box and not end up sounding too derivative.

I hate it when albums are under 10 tracks. I'd rather wait out the time it takes to produce a couple more high-quality songs.
|
| |
hmmmmm a lot of really good hardcore albums have a bunch of tracks but are under 20 minutes long.
|
| |
it cost the band more money to have an album over ten tracks
|
| |
Eh, it's hard to get past the vocals. She's good, but it just doesn't fit the music, if that makes any sense? It's like if you mixed Paramore with Minus the Bear.
Also, I'm sure she hates this, but man is she cute.

|
| |
fuck so many albums to check out last minute
|
| |
Sounds like such an Eric album. I'll get it because name dropping older MTB more than once means this is probably awesome.
|
| |
that's a problem all these mathy guitar-driven bands seem to have rly yup
|
| |
i think people expect a chick to be singing something like pop punk or piano-pop. not mathrock.
|
| |
Or screaming in Punch.
|
| |
hahaha
|
| |
I don't even know where to start listening to all these 2010 albums I'm trying to cram in, it's just ridiculous at this point.
|
| |
Hep, it's not that the vocals are bad. It just feels out of place with the music. She sounds like she belongs in a pop punk band more than a math rock band. I dunno. Maybe I'm nitpicking too much.
I'll discuss this with her after I ask her to be my 2nd wife.
|
| |
to each their own. i genuinely dig it. i'm a sucker for that kind of guitar playing.
you and me both. i'll have to get this.
|
| |
