Dev, you going for contributor now?
I would have to apply for that, I don't think writing reviews is enough seeing as how everyone does that

"It is a decent & catchy pop album, but it's a poor dubstep album"
says the person who defends Skrillex.....
|
| |
Skrillex didn't make a dubstep album genius

regardless of what "title" you give that abomination of an EP your opinion is no longer valid after trying to defend it
|
| |
I didn't give it a title, I said it wasn't a dubstep album....??......???
But i'd like to thank you for thinking my opinion is no longer valid, it's refreshing to think that you took the time to care enough to tell me that. Now i am going to sit here, listen to some sounds and try and not fret over whether or not I think my opinion is still valid to me. And i'll possibly ponder the idea that if Pitchfork gives this a high rating that I'll think a little better of it
Rave out and i truly mean that

I really don't think this should be judged as a 'pure' dubstep album. It set out to be mainstream, and that it is. Giving it a 2/5 seems harsh to me, there are a few quality tracks like 'K dance' and 'karma crazy' and you can't deny 'I need air' isn't catchy. I think Benga, Skream and Artwork should be applauded for trying to bring dubstep to the masses. Unfortunately the masses don't have great taste..
|
| |
I judged it as a dubstep album because it is one, and there are only 1 or 2 tracks that are semi decent, hence my low rating. Simple

ye its not great. But i prefer it to some of the shit out there at the moment. Dubstep is becoming too filthy for me. People's styles are getting closer to white noise, at least this can be album can be said to be music. Plus you gotta love 'the bug'
|
| |
For me it has nothing to do with how dirty and grimey and all the other useless descriptors there are, it's how good it is. There isn't an idea on this album that is executed perfectly, or even well

I like it, its got some good jungle vibes to it. I've always liked Shackleton though

I agree that 'Karma Crazy' is one of the few standouts but it's still not all that memorable. Granted that 90% of all "wobbly" dubstep all sounds the same, but there's nothing overly catchy to make me want to go back to it. Its got a nice bounce to it though
Something like this for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39DubPxOdkg while by no means original is catchy

too poppy, but there are quite a few bangers on the album. that "trancestep" label is absolute garbage by the way.

Yeah this is shit.
