Eh I don't know about all that, but I know you think that haha. Is this your favorite hip-hop album?
nonono. A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory, and Aesop Rock - Labor Days are my favorites

this is slightly better than ready to die imo.
this album is resoundingly solid from front to back considering how long it is.

Well most other hip-hop albums are just as long, if not longer.

Oh nice. The Low End Theory is good and I've never heard Aesop Rock.

I'm well aware Hawks but I'm more concerned with the consistency.

^this guy again.
Hip-hop albums are notorious for being long and very inconsistent, even tedious.

tbh a 60+ minute album is hard enough to pull off without 20+ tracks and a handful of skits.
and I fucking LOVE hiphop but probably 7 out of 10 times an album is not easy to get through front to back.
which is why when something like say this, or 'Ready To Die' or 'Aquemini' or '36 Chambers' comes along that's so engaging from start to finish it deserves to be noted for it.
but really I'm just happy to see that 4 so it's all good.

No album paints a better picture of the South than this. From culture, sound, and religion its all here. It would be intresting to see if Cee-lo can spit raps like this again.
Soul Food is top 3 all time in my book.

I wouldn't be surprised if he could (maybe not as poignantly written but the same skillful flow)

On point Tupik much props you described this album to the the t.Goodie Mob is my favorite Hip Hop group ever Outkast being inches behind. But this is my second favorite Hip Hop album ever Only to Goodie's "Still Standing" I prefer it cause of the "Crunk" style production of beats and still having very conscious lyrics at the same time.Over the soulful vintage beats but do appreciate it and do understand it is part of what makes "Soul Food" so special.Growing up in the dirty south first being exposed to Three 6 Mafia,UGK,8ball & MJG & Outkast before being introduced to Goodie is also why i probably prefer SS.Anyways enuff of my babble what I'm Trying to get at is that if you enjoyed SF you need to check out SS but you probably didn't need me to tell you that.Cee-lo is a livin' legend and a very underrated lyricist in my personal top 10 he's a top notch artist at what ever genre of music he does not many people like him if you really get to thinking of it.Anyways it would be a privilege Tupik to see a SS review done by you. p.s. are you serious you had to be encouraged to listen to "Ridin' Dirty".
