I've been listening to this album repeatedly for days, I have to say it's one of my favorites of all time. The vocals are very attractive to my ear, chants, shrieks, and growls....so much fun. I'd say out of their catalog, this is the most diverse, well-executed, and fully realized of their releases.

Having heard Verdelet, Shelter From the Sand and The Penance a while back, I finally got this album off a friend. A very solid and unique blackened death release, my favourite song at the moment probably being (very hard to choose!) The Eyes of Dawn.

Yeah, you should. Also, they're playing in Southampton on the 26th May at the Nexus if you're interested.

Ahh yes I may be going to that gig if I can find a way there and back.
You going Tarantinos?

You going Tarantinos? For certain. I'm also looking forward to Cephalic Carnage (pretty decent from the few songs I've sampled).

Cephalic Carnage are amazing man.
I have Anomalies and a lot of their earlier material lurking in my C:drive.
One of my favorite technical metal bands for sure.

Awesome album. Everything about the whole band is really talented.

I don't really like it too much. Listening thorugh, it kindof has a Deicide-ish attitude to the lyrics and almost sound, which I can only take so much of with a grain of salt.

Deicide? That's the best you came up with, seriously?

Satanism and Death Metal. Name one better Coke, I dare you.

Their attitude toward Satanism is far different than something Glen Benton would write. There is more than one school of thought on the issue, you know. They're not nearly as blunt, and your "dare" is absolutely ludicrous.

New album is good but inferior to this one. Akercocke do not follow dogmatic or theistic Satanism as far as I know, I think a lot of their lyrics are metaphorical. Check out their myspace and there is a video of them on a Northern Irish talk show arguing with some Christian fundamentalists.

their new album is sooo good, its maybe even better than this

They're actually pretty different, whereas Antichrist illustrates a more prominent Satanist theme. I think both albums are awesome.
I saw their myspace interview video, and those Christian Fundamentalists are the lamest people I've ever seen.

I love Antichrist but its a little lacking in places - the heavier songs aren't as interesting as the ones on here and Lex Talionis>>>Epode as a closing track. The covers of Chapel of Ghouls and Leprosy on the bonus edition are pretty decent if you've not heard them.

Yeah, some parts are a bit boring and repetitive, especially heavy parts, but the soft parts on Antichrist are an improvement. Haven't heard the bonus tracks yet, but ordered the limited edition yesterday. I think Antichrist does a better job in conveying emotion. This Message Edited On 06.30.07
