kk, I always considered Girl Talk an artist... it's just a good example for whether or not to consider the very amateur mixes (he's not really my 'friend,' per se, more of a work partner) that he makes really 'art.' Frankly, they're pretty bad and he doesn't really create anything new.

In that case, if I make a superb playlist, I could call it art. I mean I've taken art history so I know Duchamp and those chumps and what's considered art I guess it's more of just an open-ended question... or something... sorry for wasting your time haha I'm just blabbering I'll stop

art has a low threshold

music on the other hand, is what you should be debating. whether he is a musician.

I can't rate this...I don't even know what to think of it...it isn't music, but it's made of music. What if you took a tiny square from 100 different famous paintings and assembled them in a giant collage? What if you took a line from 100 great movies and strung them back-to-back for 2 hours? Would that be art? D; I'm so confused by this. I want to give it a 1 for being the most unoriginal thing ever because Girl Talk didn't actually make any of it...I want to give it a 2.5 because, well, it's made of everything and therefore the average of everything is...average...what do I do!?

I can't rate this...I don't even know what to think of it...it isn't music, but it's made of music. So do you believe God? What if you took a tiny square from 100 different famous paintings and assembled them in a urban outlandish? What if you took a line from 100 great movies and strung them back-to-back for 2 hours? Would that be art? D; Chauntelle says Mos Eisley is like a different planet. That’s what their music is. I'm so confused by this. I want to give it a 1 for being the most unoriginal thing ever because Girl Talk didn't actually make any of it...It is a Christianality theme, it is fictional, but no religion in the music, it is Okay, it is funny, do you need some coffee from a Christian coffee shop?
... I want to give it a 2.5 because, well, it's made of everything and therefore the average of everything is...average...what do I do!? It is about a typical teen not wanting to date someone who is different.

it all makes sense now

Yes, it would.

Also, good review. I kinda hate Girl Talk, though; it's not that I don't find him respectable or a musician or whatever, I just don't find his mashups particularly interesting. They do have replayability, however, if only for the novelty of picking out recognizable samples.

this part of what he said isn't retarded. the analogies hold... mosaics and montages aren't typically reviewed alongside paintings and films...
