But how live are samples? How live is it to use an imac to loop and reproduce things. Are those things therefore not music? Do you have to be playing a traditional instrument for it to be music? Is a computer keyboard now an instrument?

as a producer and guitarist, computers are way harder to create decent music than guitars.

Your argument on the 'sound' is fine, I get that. But I guess I am more of a person who is going to go all in emotional and rationally when purchasing and listening to an album. If I listen to an album, then go to a concert, or for whatever matter an award show, I better be hearing something quite similar and not BAD, or else I will lose a lot of respect for that artist.
Ex so I am not talking out of my ass - High on Fire, loved their albums and even their recent was pretty damn good. Went to see them live. Awful. Granted some bands have off nights and are good some times, bad others.
Mastodon I saw last year and they were absolutely awesome. This year saw them again, terrible.
With her it's just a sellout way of making money in the pop industry. Incredible amounts of video and first hand accounts from people say one thing: she is not good live. Why force the GD issue then and continue making over produced fake shit?

Yesm my main enjoyment comes out of Metal. However I love mostly all types of music. Jonsi - Go is one of my fav albums of the year as well.
