im jk but do you really think the wall is mediocre? i'd probably rate that as one of the top classic rock albums of all time.

Unfortunately I actually do =(
Trust me, I've tried very hard to like it but I just can't =( I don't think it's horrible but I do think it's VERY average, and definitely not as epic as it is made out to be. Don't get me wrong, I love Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell and Bricks I, II, and III...but just about everything in between is just like ERRRRKK o.O
Hasn't stopped me from getting a ticket to ongoing The Wall Live tour though!

yeah, hmm what do I mean? haha
Basically, if you will see with some of the more experienced writers on the site, Staff and Contribs in particular, we've developed a style that's our own that people come to expect. It's the same with a professional reviewer, once you get comfortable with your own style of writing you'll be able to draw in more "interesting" points that don't necessarily pertain to just the album in and of itself. You certainly have to have the knowledge and examples of the work itself but... well take a look at my Sufjan Stevens - Age of Adz review (under Keelan H.). That's an extreme example (it was meant to be extreme fyi) but you'll be able to see what I mean. This review (as most people off as) is very meat and potatoes. So what I mean, is you'll develop a certain flair to the writing that makes it a more entertaining read. But you have decent fundamentals so keep it up.

@ Thebhoy: I certainly will check your review out =) And I think I get what you mean now - it strikes me as something that comes with time (and lots of reviews, for that matter). I'll keep working at my style, and hope for the best.
Thanks very much thebhoy, you've been amazing help.

I've changed a few minor details - mostly on stuff that thebhoy pointed out (no major surgery was done though) - and improved the flow a bit.
Hopefully it helps the review. If you're reading, do let me know.

Great review, Pos'd.
The Wall is my 5th favourite Floyd album and I would say it's slightly overrated but not mediocre by any means. I haven't actually heard this, will be sure to check it out when i get a chance.

@ Jamie: Thanks man. Appreciate it. I think you'd like Is There Anybody Out There - it has everything the original has and more. Do check it out. Also, Roger Waters has released a live performance of his own (recorded in 1990); now I haven't checked that out myself (can only endure so many listens of The Wall haha) but it should be equally as interesting.
@ Porch: Very, VERY true. I'd rank Animals, Wish You Were Here, DSOTM, Meddle, and (admittedly) The Division Bell ahead of it in terms of enjoyment. I liked The Wall only as much as I liked Obscured By Clouds.

LOL. But honestly, like 95% of the music world (+ Thor) loves The Wall. I don't get it.

It doesn't suck, but it's just...so musically ordinary. Mediocre is the word I'd use to describe it. Am actually listening to it now, and ugh...some numbers are just poor excuses for a song.
=(?
