"Opening with a brief interlude"..

prelude*** because it's the first track. Other than that, really good first review!

Guess we all hear want we want to hear

The comparisons are warranted; both this and trip hop evoke similar feelings for me when played after dark. Just think about how different Endtroducing is at midnight as opposed to midday

wait but the lyric in dispute is sampled, from a song in which the lyric is not disputed... so isn't the interview wrong?

i mean im all for hearing what you wanna hear but i dont think this is the case here lol

I didn't post that interview in an attempt to prove a point (even though coincidentally the writer lists it how I think it is), but I thought the part where he talks about tweaking samples not only to render them androgynous but to warp the sampled lyrics how he sees fit, and how different people hear different things was interesting

Great review man, I've been trying to 'get' this album but just don't seem to be able to fully understand it. Like you, I have no prior experience with the genre so it's not easy. Was going to lower my rating to 3.5 today (there was one night that it was a solid 4 for me) but after reading I'm going to give it another go first. Pos'd.
