Great review man. These guys are over-indulgent and pathetic. Polished hardcore should die.

I hate live albums, like seriously why would you want to listen to a bunch of subpar quality songs when you can just listen to a better version of them?

hahaha

I never understood why ppl around sputnik liked these guys so much when they are as generic as every other metalcore band around.

Vocalist had a cold for the recording. Thats a shame. Really took the energy out of the songs.

not a big fan of this review. half of it is probably the ABR fanboy inside me but I still think you focused on background information way too much

"band’s vaguely metaphorical name"

ACTUALLY it's an allegorical name you proletariat! The dvd was okay but the live album is great!

Constellations wasn't generic.

I loved this band last summer around the time that album came out but the album was short lived for me. If they incorporated more of the jazzier elements that were heard on Constellations (Indonesia, Paradox) and focused less on breakdowns they could make some really good music. Won't be checking this out.

@ButcheredChildren a metaphor is to denote something as something completely different. To say that August--a period of time--could burn up like a physical entity is a metaphor. You're not calling it time, you're calling it a physical object. On the other hand, an allegory is broader and connotes an actual story. So, no.

An allegory has an underlying deeper meaning, like the fact they are named "August Burns Red" because 1 of the members had a dog named "August" who was lit on fire, or so I heard
