Cool review as always, man. I think I've heard a couple songs from this but I don't remember which ones.
And wtf negs. I'll add a pos.

Adding a pos will not get rid of the negs BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
|
| |
But it'll improve the approval rate!

yeah ive been getting neg'd a lot lately, doesn't bother me. i usually know whether or not my reviews are any good, and when they aren't, I don't bother posting them.

It's gone from 77% to 80% on this review. That's change we can believe in.

It still doesn't make this better than Lights And Sounds though... that record is officially my most-listened album of all-time.
|
| |
Give up. You'll never catch my glorious 98%.
It's okay though, you had a good run.

knott: really? yellowcard was my favorite band for about 3 years and i still listened to this more. don't get me wrong, lights and sounds has some brilliant moments that this can't compare to, but it is also hit-or-miss. this, IMO, is all killer from start to finish

I love absolutely every song on Lights And Sounds and know every fucking word of that album. I absolutely played the hell out of it the summer before I went to university and then Paper Walls took over. Haven't listened to it in ages but it's still my most counted album on last.fm by some way. This is just a bit too juvenile in places, I find Lights And Sounds much more cohesive and mature, which is obviously not always a good thing, and it's still hardly poetry, but lines like, "If I lose you, I don't know..." are difficult to come by, much more skilled lyricism than "If I could find you now things would get better!" even though I still love the latter.
Also, 'Grey'.

My fave songs from L&S are city of devils, waiting game, and basically all of the last 3 tracks. also the violin section at the end of holly wood died is beautiful

Just everything... no song is quite the same, despite the sound remaining consistent. I fucking love this record, haha.
I still only reviewed it at a 3.5 though... as I realise I'm one of the few who think it's better than this.
Paper Walls is good too though haha.
My favourite song off this is probably 'Breathing' or 'Back Home' - that line, "Sometimes I wish that it would rain here" - love it.

I'm right there with you, this was my definitive early high school album for sure.

i loved paper walls too, but it felt kind of contrived...like it was trying too hard to be more like ocean avenue...the takedown fucking rules though
glad to see someone else appreciates yellowcard as much as I did (and still do on occasion)
crymson: thanks! yeah this album was my favorite from junior year of high school up until i heard of brand new my freshman year of college
