I hope you like the whole album. I mean it's nothing new for Dimmu, but that's not necessarily a bad thing like people are making it out to be.

Well it's Dimmu so of course it's cool to hate them. This album deserves a 3, maybe a high 2.5 at worst.

im going to go see them live, and see if some of the new songs sound as good there. it will be the main hinging on whether i continue to enjoy this album or not.



i have a soft spot for them though, they did get me into heavy music after all.

Getting Stormblast when youre 15 is a good thing, i think.

This Album was alot better than In Sorte Diaboli.

This album is unabashedly average. Nothing less, nothing more.

But at least it's better than Puritanical.

Well it's definitely not better than Puritanical, at all. It's pretty much the same as In Sorte Diaboli for me.

At this point I hold it lower than En Sorte, which was a little more 'black' than this record, I think. It's actually making me appreciate En Sorte as being a half decent album now.



But at least it's better than Puritanical.

Their best is Enthrone Darkness Triumphant and they won't beat that ever.

Puritanical is on my list of worst albums ever made. I really, really despise it for some reason.

But i do believe Stormblast (the original) and Enthrone are equally my favorites they've done. Dimmu Borgir kind of died for me after Stian Arstad left.

Puritanical is good, but it has less staying power than most of their work thus far(but more than this one).



Enthrone is probably their best, though Spiritual and Death Cult are probably my favorites.

Spiritual Black Dimensions is by far their worst IMO. Death Cult Armageddon was the first album I heard from them so it's always been one of my favorites. Enthroned Darkness Triumphant and the original Stormblast are their best though.

It works for me too. I mean it's nowhere near Dimmu's best, but it's good for what it is.

1.) Not a pure black metal fan. (I do like some of the Progressive/Experimental bands though)



2.) The Album is pretty standard Black Metal as far as the "metal" part goes



3.) I was quite impressed by the symphonic writing.



4.) Not impressed enough to rate it above a 2.5.
