Very well written review, I fail to see how the fact that it's a long review is a negative in any way. I'd much prefer a long, in-depth review of an album to a short and shitty one. Besides, AllMusic's reviews these days are just as long if not longer than this one here.



I was utterly shocked by how much I enjoyed this album, especially after how much I disliked the lead single "Catalyst". "Blackout" is a fucking awesome song though, one of the best songs they've written in many years. I wouldn't quite say this is an excellent album or worth a 4, but close enough as it is engaging from start to finish even if a few songs are pretty lame.



The Mario Savo speech excerpt felt extremely forced and out of place though. The fuck does Linkin Park know about the politics of the sixties?

@ xfearbefore: Thanks for stopping by! Yes, A Thousand Suns is surprisingly quite good isn't it? I mean, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and really appreciated the fact that the band was indeed trying something new. I'm glad to hear that someone else found something to like in it too!



On the length issue...yeah sometimes I get confused by that myself. That said, I'm going to try and make my writing more concise - not necessarily shorter, just more condense and a more efficient conveyor belt of information, if you like. That way hopefully I can improve + online readers don't have to trudge through miles of writing!

Kind of disappointed that your review doesn't seem to be getting as much attention. We both seemed to notice the same things about the album, but reach different conclusions about their effects. Anyway, definitely the best review that gave this album a positive review, with the exception of the Staff member :P

Yeah, your review is definitely the best one out here Irving, DO NOT shorten it.

Btw when I first listened to this album I stopped it after the first 3-4 songs and leave it with an enormous bitter taste ... but now I have to admit that it is a really good conceptual album, I just love it. I see I will look like a total weirdo and douchebag to 90% of the crew here, but well, cant help it.

I know how you feel about looking like a weirdo lol. Honestly, it's so easy to hate on Linkin Park (to be fair, they have deserved it quite a bit - especially after making the horrendous hole in the wall that was Minutes To Midnight lol), but this latest release of theirs is not completely without merit. I think that it is - at the very least - a decent offering.
