@ Phrike
listen to it more times, because it's a grower. To a 3.5/5.0, tbh.

"A comparison to Warrel Dane of Nevermore would be a good place to start for those unfamiliar with this band, but know that Eric Knutson is the stronger vocalist"
I 'm really glad someone actually said that. Couldn't agree more.

Haha, well it's true. I've always thought so. I was actually hoping that Anthrax would try to get Flotsam's vocalist back before they got Joey again (and before I knew that they were even working on this album).

did they name their band after those two eels from the little mermaid?

Yes. They're some pretty brutal eels, if you remember correctly.

DFTD easily and viciously competes with any thrash album of any time. One of my Top 3 thrash classics for sure. And Flotsam's vocalist easily trounces any other thrash vocalist - He's Rob Halford x10.

Good review, and although I'll take Dreaming Neon Black over Eric Knutson any day, you got me to listen to a band I'd forgotten about since high school, back when Metal Blade was the only record label I knew about.
Checked out one song on youtube, didn't really grab my attention, but I can see how the album would grow on people after a few listens.

And if Nevermore's vocalist is an approximation of F&J's, maybe I should check them out too. Anybody got a Nevermore starter album?

Liking this, only listened to Doomsday before and your review got me interested. Will probably be a 3.5. Also, Flotsam and Jetsam is a rather cool band name.

Yeah, this is nothing like Doomsday and half the members here weren't on Doomsday but it's still good. My favorite F&J album is Cuatro but it's more of a mainstream metal release.

Big Flotsam fan, need to pick this up. And personally I can't decided if No Place For Disgrace is as good as When the Storm Comes down. I like Doomsday but its lyrics are laughable on some songs, and I am more of a mature thrash guy. More polticial, and not "Power chords raise the dead" type of guy.

"Take" is one of the best songs this band has ever written.
Pretty solid comeback.
Nevermore fans should give this a listen.

Yep.

I am more of a mature thrash guy
too bad political lyrics dont make a thrash band more mature. also "mature thrash" doesnt exist coz technically thrash on a whole is a pretty primitive and stupid (for lack of a better word) genre
also sup willie how long am i banned
