I despise Demon Burger and the new urbanized black metal. I like the raw and old black metal. I bet that the orchestra instruments are synthisized, which is the problem with symphonic black metal. They need to have at least a real orchestra. This Message Edited On 10.25.05

They did use a real orchestra for this album, Unstable. They said so in Guitar World, and unless they were lying, then it's tr00. If they were lying, though...:angry:

I bet they were lying. But I'm just biased. This Message Edited On 10.23.05

You think they were lying about using a real orchestra?

This stuff isn't the least bit black metal.

Agreed. Let's label it symphonic metal and call it a day.

How is it not black metal?
but im not saying it is though.

They used to be symphonic black, now they seem more melodic death to me.

Progenies of the Great Apocalypse is fuggin awesome. I love how they went crazy over-the-top with the orchestration on this record but made it sound brilliant - unlike Cradle of Filth (imo)

The orchestration usually turns people off. Lots of people think that this album was the orchestra with some of the band, instead of the opposite.
|

I think the orchestration gave this album a brilliant atmosphere.

The opening drum solo in "For The World..." = orgasmic

Well I don't think you can compare the two, really. They're totally different.

Dimmu's ok. I like Cradle of Filth better though. Lovecraft and Witchhearts... now that's some Black Metal

Eh, not so much. Cradle of Filth stopped being black metal very early on in their career.

I love the orchestra, makes the songs more mystical and shit. These guys are fuckin warlocks tryin to summon demons and what not so the orchestra adds to the fealing. Progenies of the Great Apocalypse is a great song. Good review.

I know Dimmu ditched the whole "tr00" black metal with this album, but I much prefer this sound to their earlier stuff. They broke new ground here, and did it extremely well (see fact that it reached into billboard 200). My favorite Demon Burger album by far.
Also, excellent, excellent review.
