eh, I can see Prog liking this. I mean, he likes The National, so it's not like he only likes complicated and technical stuff.
anyways, awesome review man, sums up all the reasons why i love this too.
When “Great Expectations” begins its flamboyant 3 minute ride through relationship memory lane, you will be really pissed off if you’re not in a car.
fucking yes.

"eh, I can see Prog liking this. I mean, he likes The National, so it's not like he only likes complicated and technical stuff."
I like a lot of less technical and more focused stuff, not just The National, but as a musician who just likes prog, I favor musicianship, especially for metal.
So, the title track showed me that they definitely are not the most original band, but it was a charming song, and I loved the vocals.

yeah I just figured Proggy would hate it because he really, really, really hates Springsteen, and this is Springsteen set to punk.

oh
ok
so anyway I might get this, liking what I've heard so far....but the style it self is so prosaic its hard to not make comparisons to classic rock bands while I'm listening

^ thats the point. They do it on purpose. There are at least 10 direct Springsteen quotes in here, as well as Bob Seger. "Funny how the Night Moves....hummin a song from 1962"

oh and Hans, like I told you, I really dislike Springsteen, but Asbury Park is not so bad at least he's bearable on that :p

^ to me, theres really no such thing. Not that I hate Prog, but to me, it doesnt RAWK. Some of Rush's early stuff RAWKS, but there weren't prog then.

so the point is to be unoriginal? Haha, I'm on my third song from the album, its hard not to like, the vocalist clicks with me as well....but as I listen I'm making comparisons to the classics......it doesn't bother me that much though, I like the sound

it's like when a director intentionally makes his modern film look like it was produced in the 1940s, it's an allusion/homage, not a plagiarism.
