Regression? Disagreement. Enjoyable read, though.

I was debating on reviewing this. Disturbed are a guilty pleasure of mine.

they have been doing this stuff for a long time and it is wrong to totally put them down now
see that's where i disagree, nag. To me the sound has definitely changed, gotten better even (except this) as time has gone on, and to say im being too hard on them is an odd criticism imo, as I never condemned them for something that they have always done in the review (which I think they haven't stayed the same). I'm analyzing this album with the aid of the progression path they've taken with their other albums - I clearly state that they have changed in the review throughout their career, and in no way do i criticise them for staying the same the whole time. I put them down here because instead of progressing, they regress and come up with a lackluster version of their last album.
the point is I state the reason why I put them down in my last line: "They have made the first album of their discography that can be truly called bad." Song quality, consistency, and instrumentally it's stale. If that's not a good enough reason for a negative rating, than I don't know what is. I hope that makes sense

This is interesting. I actually do very much agree that they've progressed since The Sickness, and that Indestructible was their best. But from what I've heard of this so far, it's definitely no 1.5, 2.5 at the worst but I'm expecting higher.

This does not sound stale, though. This doesn't sound like their other albums, it's got clever guitar work and I found a good deal of the musical ideas fun and even exciting for this fact.
My biggest complaint would be a few lyrical choices here and there, and the separating of the intro and the title track.

How much did you like Indestructible? To me, that album was basically what you described in your post.

Disturbed, a plural noun in this case, regress, a plural verb.
people say band names can be singular and plural, to my knowledge there isn't a definite
|

this review reminds me so much of Sea's Emery review. Maybe because i had this argument with Sea, and he eventually changed it. Or maybe because you guys both became contrib @ the same time. Sorta funny.
|
| |
Maybe because i had this argument with Sea
i remember that, but in that review you said if you're using band names it can go either way:
if you were using the band's name, like "Emery" or "Korn" or "The Mamas and the Papas" it could go either way.

edit: nvm found it
didnt think to look on the FIRST PAGE of that mayhem fest.
So yea, it's ok, but don't you think it sounds a bit... off? Wouldn't something like "Disturbed
manages to regress" (although, this tone might suit the rest of sputnik better than you, since you
apparently liked indestructible (despite not rating any of disturbed's albums for some
reason...) sound better? maybe not...
idk its just a pet peeve, but yea its grammatically ok...
