Heavenly record. It introduced me both into the cure and good music. Don't forget the same deep water as you. I can't do it

The Cure are a massive influence to me. "Lullaby" and "Lovesong" are such wonderful songs, and two of my favourites. Great review. :thumb:

The last of the Cure's good albums. I haven't heard more than a couple of song's since then that have even been mentionable. My friend picked up the newest Cure release today. I hope that changes my opinion of a once great band turned mediocre.

Robert Smith is a God. Enough Said
I can see why some people mite think of them as the godfathers of Nu-metal and Emo, afterall Blink 182 did get smith to do a song for them, and it was the only good song on the album lol. Alot of emo and nu metal groups do acknowledge the Cure as their inspirations, the deftones and blink do spring to mind as do yellowcard, but personally i feel emo just evolved out of their style of music, and became crapper lol.
disintergration is a mad album (whoever put the south park quote in your a dead set legend), i do cry when i listen to it, esp Pictures of You, used to listen to it with my ex all the time wen we were going out, so it has some meaning to me. fascination street, lullaby and lovesong are my personal picks from the album, but its so hard to choose becasue the whole album kicks arse

I love this album, this and Pornography are both classics in their own right. I love 'Prayers for Rain', that intro scares me slightly. The effects on this album are spellbounding.

No, it's not emo.
Robert Smith sounds emotional, emo kids sound like they are TRYING to sound whiny
"Last Dance" is my favorite Cure song. EVER. This is definitely an excellent CD.
Oh and godfathers of goth has to be the Bauhaus. And call me crazy, but I never could get into Joy Division.
And it's funny people call them the godfathers on nu metal. Robert Smith actually said in an interview that he likes Korn. He said he was "excited when he saw one of the members wearing a Cure shirt".
Good review, too!

Hahahhaha. The Cure are not emo. The Cure are not scene. They are a completely unique band that's been ripped off too much. The Cure don't just write about sad times, they write about everything in life, and most people don't recognize that. I think they're underrated in that way, their general image is a bunch of miserable drag queens (which at one point, that's what the Cure was).

Yeah, I gotta agree with Galapogos here. The Cure are so damn unique and ingenious, calling the "emo" is a crime. Emo's complain. Emo's whine. The Cure have a sort of acceptance to the world around them, and though they're songs are so damn depressing, you can tell they're being sincere. This Message Edited On 04.11.06
