Rated. Almost a classic for me, but if there is one thing that I can say is that I can't believe this album was and still is overlooked and hasn't been praised by musicians and music lovers out there. I know there are some out there, but not enough.

wow great review nag, phenomenal record, one of the best pop albums in the history of music. Blunstone's vocals are sex and Argent is just fucking insane

I still have to get this. I only know 'Time of the Season' (lots of airplay), and the precious Blunstone's collaboration in several 'Alan Parsons Project' works, such as the unforgettable....

Take a look at the ProgJect' review on APP's 'Eye in the Sky', along the way.
Have a pos super Nag.

haha I feel like I missed some essentials, shame on me. Same for bands like Beach Boys, Mamas and the Papas, Jefferson Airplanes, The Byrds, CCR, Procol Harum etc...that I only know through their radio hits. 'A Rose for Emily' is gorgeous, and I'm pretty sure I've heard it somewhere.

i like albums like this cuz they remind me that, at its core, nearly all great music has a link of just good songwriting

review's pretty good, although there are some grammar mistakes here and there. Though this review focuses on the technical aspects of why this album's awesome, I find this album to be as stunning as it is because of how it makes simple pop songs unbelievably heartbreaking. The best example I can think of is "Maybe After He's Gone," which is never on anyone's favorites list but mine. The way it goes from dejected to naive, misguided optimism is a prime example of the way this record uses 60s pop conventions to tell a story wholly unique to Odessey and Oracle: while other albums from this era sound happy and silly just to be happy and silly, this one is happy and silly because the alternative is terrifyingly depressing. This is why it sits perfectly in line with Pet Sounds, though I prefer this one. It one-ups Brian Wilson.

I love Maybe After She's Gone, but since every song is a gem here, it's really hard to choose. I get your point: I do mention it, but it wouldn't have been a bad idea to expand on it. I guess this is just kind of how I approach reviews in general.

yeah its not a criticism to your review, and i think you touch on it with "your love songs with a twist" line, im just sounding off
