It seems that people like to compare any band with ominous synths to Radiohead. One of the most played-out comparisons in music.

An interesting album but nowhere as strong as OSI or Free. Amsterdam with Mikael (Opeth) Akerfeldt track sounds like a track off Damnation (no bad thing). This sounds neither like Chroma Key nor Fates Warning but it's still possible to get your rocks off to the opening track "The Escape Artist". Gavin Harrison on drums - genius.

"Terminal" is great.

Fantastic album. The track Blood is absolutly magnificent and reveals the true architect behind dream theaters early success. i.e. If you told me that the same guys that wrote the dark eternal night also wrote Pull Me Under I would not believe it...on the other hand if you told me the guy that wrote Blood also wrote Pull Me Under --then yea i would.

I like this album a lot. It isn't quite as good as Free, but I consider it to be quite a bit better than Office of Strategic Influence. Maybe I should go back and listen to it some more... I don't recall liking it all that much, but some of these comments make it seem like it is better than Blood, which seems more than a bit odd to me.

Funny, I just started listening to this more again and I see it get a comment..... weird......... anyway, I really like the first two songs on here... the rest I need to listen to more thoroughly I think.

Sounds good. This band's songs always take a few full listen to really get ahold of me, though.

Yeah, I can definitely agree with that.
From the clips, a lot of it seems to be heavy on the metal side of things. I enjoyed the more electronic based songs the most on this album.

I got the promo yesterday. They've finally lived up to their 'supergroup' status.

You don't seem like you have much faith that the new one is their best.

I've had this on my computer for a long time now, never bothered listening to it.
Should I bother?

It's their weakest album, IMO. So, if you do listen to it, don't let it stop you from hearing the album that is being released later this year because it is their best.

Agreed that Blood is the weakest.
I'm cautiously optimistic. Personally, I think the quality has declined a little with each album, but the gap between them really isn't that large. It wouldn't surprise me if I like the new one best. Matheos is on fire after all.

Gotcha, thanks guys.
I quite like listening to a band's weaker effort first, because then if you like it you're in for a treat.
