"damn davey i didnt read the review, but that chick is smokin" Yeah, probably a bad move on my behalf to post that pic. No-one's gonna read the review now.
"...never thought youd be listening to much metal though davey." If you take a listen to their 2nd album 'The Dream', it's not exactly metal, it's catchy hard-rock... which is just my thing.
"Is "Brink" capitalized for a reason in the summary, Davey?" Yes Emim, don't you get my play on words?
"Saw the video for The Gun Show and was incredibly unimpressed." Thor like I said on the previous page of comments, it's very close to being the worst song on this album... I'm 100% serious.
"my god, this girl is worthy of my barracuda technique" Diagrams please... If you can give away your secrets of course Mordecai.

Yeah, there is indeed some screeching going on here. But most of it is isolated to 'Gunshow'. In fact, there are a couple of times in 'Gunshow' where Maria sounds like an 80's cock-rock male vocalist (EG: Vince Neill).
What are you going on about Adam? maria doesn't have a bushy beard.

read the entire review, very well written.
Also I will be getting this as I have a passing interest in this band.
oh yeah and it goes without saying Maria Brink is fucking hot.

Thanks Apollo. Wasn't the easiest review to write, because I felt compelled to mention the "album of two halves" opinion. It sort of sidetracked me for a while there & took over the review a little.

It worked though. I liked The Dream better than Beautiful Tragedy but both albums were decent, not great, but decent. I'm at work now so I won't be able to listen until later. Is Maria's voice heavily auto-tuned like it was on The Dream?

Actually Daveyboy, that's Jada Pinkett-Smith

I clearly liked 'The Dream' (4 rating) over 'Beautiful Tragedy' (2 rating)... Is Maria's voice heavily auto-tuned? Not heavily, because there are nowhere near as many clean vocals here as there were on 'The Dream'. They definitely exist, but whether they clash or co-exist with her screams is going to be up to the individual listener. In practically every way, this album is in-between their last 2... And, in a way, I've proved that with my rating.
Oh, that is Jada. I'm hopeless. Or maybe its because she may have slipped to the 3rd most known actor in the family now.

good, that was the only annoying factor about the Dream to me so this record should hopefully be more balanced.

This hardly counts as an enthused metal review, when you've so bluntly noted that metal never has, or ever will be your forte, and on many occasions stated your general dislike for it. Moreover, your ratings, contribute nothing towards metal, unless you count the arguably excessive Def Leppard glorification, oh and two other ratings for In this Moment.
Thus, I feel that your writing here is fairly stale and cyclic in an attempt to cash in on a userbase inherently comprised of metalheads. You reiterate similar motif, yet seem to do it over five paragraphs, it's almost not reading anything after the third - simply it lacks punch and flair.
Similarly, I don't feel convinced that your credibility as a staff reviewer equates this review in the same ways your more at home genres such as pop and rock do. Nor do I feel convinced that I should approach this with as much pessimism as I should optimism from the written elements here.
Am I suggesting you write 400 words or less? No. But there's no point surpassing it if you've found little else to write about that's vitally relevant, unless you can blend it all in with eloquence.

^wow that's a heck of a criticism but well worded.
Still, don't listen to him Davey. I'm not just a metalhead (I enjoy all forms of music) and I thought it was a great review.

It's not really criticism. I'd like it to be more along the lines of personal observation.
