His voice is just half/full shouting. It's rather annoying. Riffs are nothing but fast notes, as are the mindless solos. Lyrics are typical death and destruction, and I saw nothing special about the bass.
I do enjoy Raining Blood, though.

Reborn is one of my favorite songs on that cd. it deserves at least a 4.5. For those of you who don't really like slayer, it does kinda take a while to get hooked. When i first bought the cd i only really was angel of death. But when you really listen to it, and get into it, you will be forever addicted. When i first got the cd i would give it a 3.5, but now i would give it a 5 without question. And those of you who think it's all repetitive, you'll notice huge differences once you get into it.

I'm listening to Angel of Death now. I gotta tell you I really can't get into this that much so far, but I'll try to listen to it more and see if my opinoin changes.

This is the most repetetive album I have heard. Cyncopated snare drums, repetetive guitar riffs, with very little variation. The singing is always the same, the lyrics are always the same, and Tom Araya is a very poor singer. He can't sing, he just kind of speaks, with a couple high pitched screams here and there.

Another thing; the solos aren't melodic or beautiful in any way. It's really screechy and annoying. Granted, they are hard to play, but that does mean I'm going to enjoy them.

Slayer is a band that you need to see live to fully appreciate. It's about the agression and energy the band delivers.

My favorite band, this was the first album I heard by them. And I can't get enough of it. Very awesome, and relentless. Tom was probably at the peak of his vocals at this album, and from Show No Mercy all the way to Reign in Blood, his voice was probably one the best Thrash Metal vocals.
Great Cd, great songs, the only song I don't really care for is Altar of Sacrifice, I don't know why, but I don't like it.

I really cannot be arsed to edit my review but reborn and epidemic are actually 2 pretty cool songs. The lyrics in reborn are great an dthe ending of epidemic is amazing for some reason. I would give each song a 4/5. But i cant be arsed.

Such an over rated album. I disagree with the reviewer in many aspects especially as far as the solos and vocals are concerned. The first arent as technical as some people think -the opposite - and I find them totally uninspired, not to mention the fact they all sound the same to me. The vocals are quite dull and repetitive (or am I talking about the riffs themselves?) but I have to admit that the fast spoken parts are quite entertaining.

The Criminally Insane Remix is worth maybe a 3 not a 5 but its still a kickass album once it grows on you

Fuck all the haters in here, let's see you survive less than five f*ckin' minutes in a Slayer pit when they play Angel Of Death, Postmortem, Raining Blood, or even f*cking Disciple... Slay fans are flat-out crazy, trust me...
2003 Mid-Hudson Civic Center, Pougkeepsie NY Jaegermeister Tour: Dry Kill Logic, Arch Enemy, Hatebreed, Slayer. Most intense show EVER. No metal bands I've seen since have topped that bill...

To me, this is THE Slayer album. It is truley a great record throughout. Of course Rick Rubin produced it which made it sound great. I love the riffs on it, and the speed of all the songs are amazing. A must have for Metal and Thrash fans, I'm not even a huge metal fan but this album is one of my favorites.
