HIM is the absolute worst band ever. its not santanic its pop. everyone loves it because bam says its cool. bam is an ***.

good review
satanic stuff is just another sign youve sold out
It's a shame that everyband that has been on TV within recent months have become sellouts to people like you, it's also a shame that most people don't even know what selling out is anymore.

HIM have fallen victim to what I call 'Dashboard Confessional Syndrome'...
Without the constant stigma of a) Bam, b) 10 trillion screaming 15 year old girls wanting to have Ville's babies, and c) that utterly stupid 'heartagram', they could have relied on their MUSIC to make it's impression on people.
Don't get me wrong, I don't blame the band, you've got to take whatever path to fame seems right to you...no, I blame Bam.
To be fair, some of their older stuff, off this record and Love Metal, is pretty cool (Your Sweet 666, Buried Alive By Love, Right Here In These Arms), but their new stuff is utter, utter trash, specifically produced to pander to their audience...

Bam sucks, most people that like HIM find Bam repulsive. True, Bam gave them exposure, but not fame in the States. I've liked HIM way back when and way before I ever knew who Bam was. I was walking around with HIM shirts in high school with the heartagram and people always told me if I liked Bam without knowing who the hell he was.

Them being "satanic" is neither an image or what their music is about. Ville read the Satanic Bible as literature but that was as fair as he incorporated it into his music.

The band was really great with their first three albums (Razorblade Romance being their best), the other two were pretty mediocre.

Actually, HIM was hugely popular before Bam Margera.

The band achevied major success in Europe way back in 2000 with the realease of thier second album "Razorblade Romance." The album's first single, "Join Me" was a major hit in Finland, Germany, and a slew of other European nations. The band had also acheived marginal success with thier first album "Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666" in 1998, though it was more limited to Scandinavia.

Bam has admitted he had never even heard of HIM until long after Razorblade Romance was released. Though he may be responsible for a good percentage of HIM's American fame, the band had already created a major name for itself prior to Mr. Margera.

And if I may say so, judging a band on one album, or a few songs that you have heard in passing, is what I would call extremely closeminded.

How isn't it an image? What is it then?

And how on earth can this album be a 5/5? I can understand if you like it, but a masterpiece that everyone should own?

Sweet 666 really gets on my nerves, in fact the only Him song I can stand is Sigillum/Stigmata Diabolli.

I have to say, this band gets a really bad rep in the States. All this bashing by people who are so braindead they think the "Shift" key will attack them if they try to press it.

I'm not really a fan, but HIM are okay. They're better than a lot of radio rock out there today. They kick the shit out of Seether, for example.

I think when most people say "I hate HIM," what they're really trying to say is, "I hate Bam Margera, and I hate the prepubescent fans of this band." Which is something I can totally get behind. Both need to be exterminated with extreme prejudice. Really, you'd get a lot more respect if you were just honest about it, instead of slagging off the entire band for the people they happen to be connected to.

HIM it seems are just being ate up as media darlings. Some of it I don't get. For example, Ville being marketed as a sex symbol. Anatomically speaking, he's Pinnochio with the head of Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman." Somebody get that boy a sandwich and a tan, for Christ's sake.

Nevertheless, the old adage stands: don't hate the player, hate the game. This Message Edited On 04.29.06

They do get some radio play in the States, but most of their success is in continental Europe.

They're basically a vaguely-Goth rock band with angsty lyrics. They've been ridiculously hyped up, in particular promoting the lead singer as a sex symbol (again, an idea that's beyond my comprehension as the man looks like something out of a concentration camp).

For the most part, their fans keep a low profile until someone actually mentions the band, at which point they become pretty annoying.

I disagree, although Bam is a publicity crazed freak, I respect his talent as skater and his original video edits. His obsession with HIM just made the band get old really fast, and it seems as though its more Bam's band than it is Ville Valo's. But you know, whatever.

That's more or less the point I'm trying to get across. The man is such a shameless attention whore, and so incredibly obnoxious as a person, that just about anything he approves of or endorses seems to carry his unique, greasy stink all over it.

Totally agreed^^. The sad thing is, I don't see the 'great stink' ceasing to travel further anytime soon. I just hope it doesn't go too far.
