I saw them live in 2000 supporting Annihilator, they were awesome, but I don't really care for them anymore, Dead Heart was their last great album imho. Since then I just find 3-4 songs that I like in each album,
the rest sound a little too repetitive for my taste. The same goes with this album. I still respect Loomis though!

From what I've listened to so far, this is a pretty good album. I'm a huge Nevermore fan, as well. My only issue is that this reminds me a lot of Dane's solo release, which was good in its own right, but this is Nevermore. The final song on this album is kick ass, though. Still, I am hearing a lot of filler. I'm gonna keep listening to see if anything more stands out, which I hope it does. Oddly enough, I feel like they've taken a big step back from "This Godless Endeavor" and kind of come to a mixture of "Enemies of Reality" and "Dreaming Neon Black." I was really hoping they could top "This Godless Endeavor" with this album, but I can assure you they have not done that.

Thats 2 dependable bands (Dark Tranquility being the other) that have disappointing releases this year.

For me, this is pretty great. It reminds me of Dreaming Neon Black with some Dead Heart and Godless Endeavor. Is it as good as those albums? Not Godless Endeavor or Dead Heart, to be sure, but I found it enjoyable. Some things dragged it down, but, eh, I like it.
It IS true it doesn't feel as face-smashingly energized as past efforts.

Master616, I know exactly what you mean about dependable Metal bands releasing utter shit. I was sorely disappointed with DT this year. They are another band that I absolutely love and I hated to see them release crap.
