Nice review as usual Nag; just want to know, are you gonna review 'The Devil You Know' as well? After all, it's pretty much a Sabbath record in all but name.

@Nag
True, I guess you just need to make sure you're inspired when you're writing, and all will be fine.

Nah, as much as I agree about it being actually a Sabbath record, I'll just keep it to their eighteen original studio albums, which I reviewed in the first place because many of them didn't have (good) reviews. The Devil You Know is covered pretty well already.

This is not a Black Sabbath album.
Agreed
cheesy 80's metal album
Totally agreed.
One of Sabbath's weakest releases.
The album follows the 80's formula.
track no 1: hard rocking song
track no 2: rock ballad and so on...

At first I didn't like this "Deep Sabbath" record however I get used to songs like In for the Kill, Seventh Star, Sphinx (The Guardian) or In Memory...Glenn Hughes has an amazing voice but not for this band.

ms. nagrarok, i have have been enjoying reading yr sabbath reviews chronologically, as i listen to black sabbath for the
1st time ever, specifically their 1st 5 albums + heaven and hell/mob rules. [i`m in my 40s and grew up on punk-
never got into metal. in fact, as twerpy punk rocker, i detested HM`s low brow pomp and pout.] my favs so far are
Paranoid, the debut, Heaven & Hell. i`m looking forward to Holy Diver based on what i`ve read. any other suggestions
for a novice headbanger?
it`s in my nature to be a grammartician and editor; i hope you`ll take these minor corrections in the friendly spirit i
mean them:
The group's twelFth album
"rather strangely headed with Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi" could be
"rather strangely credited to Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi"
i think u mean "all of Sabbath's records up THROUGH Mob Rules" instead of
"all of Sabbath's records up till Mob Rules"
If you`re ever in nyc stop in and say hello at gag-bit vinyl, unless you`re allergic to post punk and new wave!

Sounds like 80s Rainbow and late 80s Purple but I can't say that it's awful. It also seems that Hughes idolized Joe Lynn Turner a bit at that time.

Agreed, it's not all that bad after all; Born Again was way worse imo.

One of their most disappointing albums they've done compared to all the great stuff that Sabbath did with Ozzy including Dio in the band. However the vocals weren't too bad but not too many songs that i thought were at least likeable in my opinion.
