You recommended The Crusade? That's surprising... A lot of Metallica fans tend to hate that album...

Leper Messiah is a great song, but if that is your fave on the album, you must have not heard the whole album.

actually come to think of it, the lyrical content in Leper Messiah is just so damn awesome, maybe it's not the weakest track overall, but I haven't listened to Metallica in months so I wouldn't know completely.

I've heard the whole album plenty of times but Leper Messiah has always held a special place in my heart. Probably because it's the most laid back/agressive song off the album.

kind of true... it used to be a fave of mine too, especially cause of the lyrics...maybe I'm underrating it, I'll have to start listening to Metallica again.

Its very difficult to favor Lightning or Puppets, they are both stone cold masterpieces and are among my favorite albums. I give Puppets a slight edge because it is more refined and melodic, and Hetfields vocals are much better. Their structures are very similar, but the title track of MOP rules every Metallica song.

The Thing That Should Not Be is the only song on here that's even remotely subpar

I always liked that one. MESSANGER OF FEAR IN SIGHT, DARK DECEPTION KILLS THE LIGHT.

^ Its a great song, but its only the third best track 4, quasi ballad that starts on the 2nd fret a string and 4th fret d string off of Lightning, Puppets, or Justice.
Aka, Fade to Black, Sanitarium > One.

Sil3nt, I recommended it because it sounds just like Metallica!
In fact, only minutes ago I played it for my friend - who's a rabid Metallica fan - claiming it was "a lost Metallica album, between St. Anger and Death Magnetic". And for a moment there, when he listened to Matt Heafy's voice, he fell for it.
The picture of the old lady back there made me laugh, too. Thanks for the feedback!

But that's precisely what everyone hates about it - they say that it's nothing more than an imitation, and that it's not even a good imitation. What song did you play for your friend? I'm interested to know.

Am I the only non-Trivium fanboy in the world that actually likes The Crusade?

I never gave it more than about a minute or two of each song way back when it first came out. I kinda sorta liked Ascendency for a minute when it came out though

I don't mind The Crusade, but it had the potential to be MUCH stronger.

I played him the first few minutes of the opening track. The following ones are not so Metallica-ish. We Are The Fire rocks the shit out of my speakers!

Becoming The Dragon and the title track are the best, don't really like the other songs.
