I think the whole "you love them or you hate them" intro needs to be shot and buried from here on out.

some scene-ish girls that I know like Brokencyde because the juvenile lyrics are fun and the beats are catchy and because they don't take music too seriously.

It's not a matter of taking the music seriously.
It's a matter of having ears.

Today, I learned that "scream" is a musical genre

Sorry, I have to correct you on that one. One of my friends, whom I trust implicitly when it comes to music, likes these guys because they're fun.
Think about this for a second. How many bands do you listen to that play upbeat, fun music? Now think about how many bands you listen to that play depressing, serious music? I'll show my friend 10 songs and its always the more upbeat ones that she likes because she's sick of hearing about depressing shit.
"For godsakes have a bit of fun"

P.S I hate this band with a passion, but I can see where she's coming from.

As for the review: The reviewer actually isn't a bad writer, they're just stupid, so I pos'd.

That's a horrible argument because there is so much upbeat music in the world that isn't so fucking awful.

There are plenty of accessible, upbeat bands which have some semblance of integrity.

Nah, I understand what you mean--I like plenty of mediocre bands just because they're fun. I just see no fun in this one.
And I dunno about this review, generally I agree--you should never neg someone's review just because it's not your opinion--but this one is pretty poorly done. But, it IS a first, but given that, if you're going to write a review this controversial, you should make sure you have enough experience to really back it up.
I dunno, it's definitely not a neg, but i dunno if I would give it a pos.

The album is upbeat, but it sounds fake and forced. Also, it sounds stupid (especially lyrically). There's nothing wrong with being fun, but there is with being bad.

they are absolutely money grabbers and did you actually try to assert that they are original? there are a bunch of "bands" that make this same kind of music now because its effortless to make and stupid people buy it, look at hollywood undead, they're like the same thing and i'm not proud of it but i purchased a hollywood undead album and i can say, in full confidence, that i sincerely regret that but the point is that, in no way, shape or form, is brokencyde an original band with any kind of "noble goal"

not taking music so seriously for these guys is just a cover up excuse for the fact they have no talent at all.
