I loved De-Loused in the Comatorium! The hidden agenda, the poetic lyrics, it was a great CD. The reason why I might like Francis the Mute a little better is cuz the drumming and vocals are more on exhibition, and thus shown to be extraordinary music. FtM is more of a huge jam session, its just great stuff. And no biggy on the sax thing, i play tenor too.

Stop being mean.

Frances is bigger and buffer. She could so take that silly De-Loused.

There both just very different. De-Loused seems like it would be for more mainstream cuz it has more single hits, but Frances is a great epic. I dont know how many people like The Doors, not really prog rock, but TMV kinda reminds me of them of modern time, kinda avant guard sounds and poetic lyrics.

Frances has better moments within the songs, but with De-Loused you can listen to entire tracks much easier. Also, Frances is most definitely a progressive rock album, but De-Loused is more of a transition between the old ATDI sound and prog.

So De-Loused is probably more enjoyable for me just based on length, and the fact that TMV won't be revisiting that sound anytime soon. In fact, they probably won't revisit Frances the Mute either because they are constantly evolving. Whether or not they're going in a good direction depends on your personal taste, but at least you can admire them for their sheer ambition to constantly do what nobody else has ever done.

I just gave this a good listen for the first time in a while, and it's stood up greatly. Still a fantastic album.

Deloused is for people with Down Syndrome who can't handle 77 minutes of the greatness known as Frances.

Frances is better than Deloused in every way, shape, and form.

Frances=Deloused

This is a pointless debate. Each album has its selling points. Deloused is more accessable, has better guitar solos, and a song by song album feel. Francis is way more of an overall concept, has an overall feel and tone, and uses many other sounds besides guitars to get the point across. Lyrically i like Francis...musically i like Deloused.

As I listen to this more, I realise that about half of the guitar work is generic as hell.
