I dunno, I listen to different DT depending on my mood, sometimes I like their lighter stuff, lately I've listened to their recent metal stuff most though.

Yeah I've been playing them out nonstop right now, I'm barely listening to anything else. Right now I

can't stop listening to Train of Thought and Black Clouds, both albums are nearly at 4.5 now.

Train of Thought and Awake are the most underrated DT albums in the Sputnik Catalog.

Ugh..Octavarium (the song) is just so DULL... No offense, but how anyone could think it's better than ACoS, is really beyond my understanding. When listening to the song, or most of the album for that matter, I'm just thinking where's the EXCITEMENT??

Really? I like how it builds up in intensity, I find it more exciting than this, although this is pretty awesome, don't get me wrong.

The rest of Octavarium is hit and miss but some songs are really good.

I just don't like the 2 ballads or Never Enough. The rest is freakin' good, Panic Attack is becoming one of my most played songs.

I agree.

On the contrary, it's quite obvious which is the most overrated here. Even for 'Sputnik standards' I find it strange that it's still rated so high on this site. There's everything that the 'elite' and detractors alike should despise about DT on said album, yet some of them seem to like it. That being said, it's a great album, though it's funny to see it from both sides. Of course I'm talking about Scenes from a Memory.

Guess I'm not since I don't feel Octavarium and especially Systematic Chaos. I dunno, I thought they were progressively losing it on those two and had me worried about DT's future. They have a few decent songs but are probably their dullest works. The albums also had a more mainstream approach and were more accessible but in the end just painfully boring. They even had some cringe-worthy moments, not to mention the lyrics which were quite awful too. Just listen to Panic Attack, "I am paralyzed, So afraid to die"...

That being said, I enjoy their new album. Their best since Train of Thought which is just two dull albums away from BC&SL but nevertheless somewhat a return to form.

I think Octavarium could have been one of their best if the even-numbered tracks (aside from Octavarium) weren't so boring. I dunno, I don't mind the lyrics of Panic Attack, I think it fits the song well. Plus it's just a good headbanger lol.

Systematic Chaos, yeah I hear ya, I really enjoyed it at first but it's really grown off me cause it's so flawed. Lyrics are also worst on that album. "Dark Master, I will fight for you" ugh...

SC is their worst, no doubt. Octavarium is a good album and the instrumetal side is mostly great. I'm just missing the spark they had on the previous albums (yes, even FiI!), plus they seemed to have somewhat of an identity crisis too, copying other bands like U2 on 'I Walk Beside You', and Muse on 'Never Enough'. But thinking about it, I do like newer DT after all, except 2 albums.

And I guess our opinions are different again when I say that 'I Walk Beside You' is one of the better songs on the album, regardless of the influence. amirite :-)

I Walk Beside You is my 3rd least favorite on the album, but it's tolerable, aside from the last chorus where LaBrie's vocals are really annoying.

I enjoy These Walls quite a bit though, one of my favorites of their more "commercial" tracks.

i love every song on octavarium, i just cant handle that every song seems to go on a bit longer than they should, its very one dimensional in my opinion, not like train of thought which has a very broad sound and the song actually spans into various areas. The only song off of Octavarium that dosent sound one dimensional to me is Sacrificed Sons. I still love The Root of all Evil and Never Enough. Also Never Enough is a complete rip off of Muse's Stockholm Syndrome, and its a damn good one too. DT's rip offs make the originals look like they were the rip off.
