agreed pixies, we're pretty much on the same page with this album

God it was sold out....

To start off, I just got home from the acoustic performance at Vintage Vinyl in New Jersey and it was tight. They played the solos in Welcome Home and Final Cut rediculously good. I got their autograph on a vinyl of Welcome Home and the Crowing.
They have all of their albums based off of one story. Not just one album.
I admit myself, I'm not the biggest fan of their poppy stuff in the album but songs like The willing well 1-4, welcome home are really making an impact for me on this CD.
Sure maybe they have some songs that sound mildly similar. I recognize in the suffering that they ALMOST have the same rhythm/pitch as "pull the trigger and the nightmare stops"
Please cite where else because I do not recongize anything. Oh and yes they have the lyrics from Everything Evil in Apollo II but they obviously have a point to this. They aren't doing it for kicks and giggles.
It really isn't ludacrous because, it's my personal opinion and I feel there are stronger songs in this new one.

hey, Coheed is my favorite band and im uber jeleous of your signed vinyl. Considering I used to live in Jersey, this hurts me dearly inside.

hahah, Thank God I still live in New Jersey. Best state for shows since everyone plays either here for NY.
Did you live in North or South Jersey?
The setlist was:
Welcome Home
A Favor House Atlantic (I hate this song but acoustically it's not as annoying)
Wake Up
The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut

ah for god's sake

I lived in Asbury and Brick.

I think this album is really good. If I had to pick a song from the last album that would foreshadow the sound on Good Apollo, it would probably be Faint of Hearts.
They sound nothing like pop-punk now, just really... progressive.
Oh, and the solos on "Welcome Home" and "The Final Cut" start out with Travis but end with Claudio (switching a few times on the former). Claudio has the really bluesy David Gilmour-like tone, and Travis has the other one (usually panned right on your headphones).

The music is great, I wish I could get past his voice though

I feel the same way about Dream Theater, I love the music but I dislike the singing. All of my favorite songs by DT are instrumentals ;)
|
| |
I'm not a big poster, I usually just read reviews, but on the matter of the same tune popping up in some songs. I think Claudio said something about parts like that tying in with each other, in other words the parts are related storywise. Not 100% on this but I believe it is right.

YD: Claudio said that in this month's GW issue...:p
Travis has the Jimmy Page tone. :thumb:

Welcome Home is good stuff. I just might investigate this further.

Yeah, that's where I heard it from all right
Anyway, this is a really superb album. Very dense, I guess is how to put it. A lot of the songs sound like either "Faint of Hearts" or "The Crowing" off of the last album, which is fine for me because those are my two favorite songs from there.
It's too early to say if this is their best album yet, but it's really really good. It combines the guitar melodies from IKS plus the audible basslines that don't always stick to the root note. Awesome.

YDload
Yeah, this is the first time you could really make out the bass throughout the whole album. I like the drumming also, and of course the guitar work is pretty cool. It gets a little too monotnous and repetitive at times, but I still enjoy listening to this CD.

This new album can't possibly be watered down from the previous one, because it's so much stronger. The basslines come in clear now like they did on SSTB, the two guitars have distinct tones from each other, and everything about the album screams "epic." If anything, it's overloaded with music, and IKSSE: 3 looks watered down in comparison to this.

Christ, this is so good.
At first I liked IKSOSE3 better, but the more I listen to it, the more I love it.
Dare I say, one of the best albums ever?
