this show rules so hard.

Series is decent, lacking in parts though. Ads are so annoying. As for the score, its good but sometimes a little over the top. Love Honor though.

snafu is the best character in the fucking world
|
| |
TBH, I haven't yet managed to get to grips with any names, and I often have trouble recognizing characters. Lewski, or whatever his name is, is awesome though and basically makes the entire series.

Well the whole series is based of a book he wrote after world war two, the events are mainly fact, not fiction: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Leckie_(author)
Yes, Honor is fantastic, yet I find the whole score immense. And snafu for the win.

snafu is sledge's asshole squadmate, the one who was taking gold out of jap's mouths and skipping rocks across their blown off skulls
|
| |
Ahhhhhh. Well, he's not really that much of an asshole, just in comparison to the newbies. Taking gold from the jap's mouths etc was common practice.
And I knew it was mostly fact, didn't realise it was based off a book though. Explains why it focuses so much on Leckie.

Yeah, it is also based of Eugene Sledge's book "With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa", and the story of war hero John Basilone. Yes, well the next couple of episodes will focus on Sledge, (the Dr's son), which I can't wait for as it is meant to show that he grows quickly "from a naive young boy to a killing machine", so should be intense.
|
| |
This is playing on tv right now
|
| |
are you an episode behind dougie? i just watched 9 today and yeah sledge is jaded as fuck it's intense
|
| |
He wasn't jaded last week, so presumably.

Oh plus any Victorians might like to know, that the next episode (tonights) features the You Yangs as the Peleliu ridge line
|
| |
It would be nice if they had omitted the really shitty CGI at the end with the ship.

Yeah, that was kind of terrible hey?
|
| |
That was dodgy, but the other two episodes were the most intense of the series. First one was better than the beggining of Saving Private Ryan and the second one was just...wow. Made me so angry that wars are still being fought (and will continue to be).

I know, it was a very well filmed couple of episodes, especially the scene with the Japs in the bunker, that was unbelievable (yet very eye opening), also the run across the airstrip was fantastically done I though.
I can't stop listening to "Honor" either.
|
| |
^The run across the airstrip is pretty much what I meant as more intense than the opening to SPR. Probably the best shot war scene ever.

Just watched the John Basilone/Iwo Jima episode, was alright... though episode 9 I havent yet seen, Rudy - is it hell intense? Better then any of the Peleliu episodes? (which were amazing)
