Awesome ironic lyrics for this song for sure. This album has great memorable lyrics in general.

Like I Do also has grown on me and I've always liked Made Of Stone. Numb is by far the worst track imo. The rest of the album is excellent.

Agreed. Besides, I absolutely love the bridge in Southern Comfort.

If I were to choose my top tracks, I'd go exactly with your picks plus The Devil's Tongue, of course. It deservedly gets the most plays from me out of the whole cd.

Out of 4 additional tracks, Clergy is a standout for me, an awesome Southern-hinged ballad with a truly brilliant breakdown. Also, Company Of Men would be a good closer to the regular album. The other two tracks are not so good in my opinion, but definitely worth a listen.

Extra tracks will grow on you. I'm sure. Only Bad News is not up to their standard.

Am I the only one that thinks Lucy Gray was better than Lowcountry?

Lucy Gray is 3.5/5 at most. In fact, in one of the interviews I've seen they specifically said they weren't really proud of Lucy Gray because it felt more like a product and not what they actually wanted to do.

This just took me completely by surprise. I didn't really care for Lucy Gray, but this just rocks. I've had it on repeat at work.

I especially love Made Of Stone. One of my songs of the year right there.

Yeah. They surprised everybody. They certainly aren't the same band as they were when they released Lucy Gray.

Check out Clergy out of deluxe edition (if you hadn't already). This is probably my favorite mellow song of theirs. Made Of Stone is also awesome though.

excellent review greg. and you are absolutely right, this album needs a boost in some way just to get it in front of more listeners. i'm glad they are on a smaller label like photo finish but i wish they'd get a little bit more exposure. i've seen these guys 3 times and i can't say that i've enjoyed another band more than these guys. so much young talent it's ridiculous. also i like that you mentioned that hunter wrote and recorded the drum tracks for this album, so many people don't know that and it's definitely noteworthy. also, i thought hunter sounded a lot like brandon boyd on "laugh ourselves to death" which didn't bother me at all. the only thing i would disagree with you is about "numb", to me...it's excellence haha. when i crank that song up on a nice sound system it just works for me. but no need to be picky, again...great review i wish more people could have this in front of them.

Thanks. Numb and Bad News (out of the deluxe edition) are the only tracks I don't really care about. There are definitely some moments when Ryan Hunter sounds completely like Brandon Boyd. The verses of American T-shirt Racket are evidently influenced by him. At first, I even thought it was a guest appearance of Brandon. I also agree about Laugh Ourselves To Death, though it's less evident.
