I just listened to Song For A Son...
I'm sorry, but I really didn't like it. Perhaps its because I can't get over the fact that Corgan has his head jammed so far up his ass for that guitar solo, maybe its that his vocals pissed me off to no end, or maybe its just the general sound of the song, but something just makes me want to destroy the speaker that's playing it.

Its not bad, and at least he's trying to do something here, with some purpose, unlike say Zeitgeist. I know the concept is just churning out songs as they come along, but the lyrics are suffering because of it, I think. Astral Planes had a lot of promise but lyrically its weak. Corgan's lyrics were always a net benefit to songs in the 90s, I'm hoping he works a little harder on them for the next batch. And I'm hoping he goes on tour, might help the band find some identity

I am NOT judging him solely by this album, but after watching video after video of Mike Byrne playing and soloing, Corgan must have been on crack to think this kid is impressive.
He has a problem with dynamics and his playing is missing the depth that Chamberlin had. No, he didn't fall on his face in this album but he failed to give the band the balls it had even when playing slow, sentimental songs.
I think it was a poor and hasty decision because the kid is 20 and Corgan wants a "fresh, young" sound. He should have thought more about finding someone talented, original, creative and powerful and I've yet to see Byrne show any interest in being any of these.

Smashing Pumpkins do NOT exist anymore. They DONT. They died in 1998. Corgan needs to call this monster "Baldie Goes Mad Project And Needs To Make More Money By Destroying My Original Band's Name With Only Myself As The Last Member But With No Credibility Musical Show"

This EP is horrible. And look at my username.
A Song for a Son is typical Corgan thoroughfare these days.. Unimaginative, boring.
The drumming is subpar (after all, we're used to Chamberlin).
Corgan should just quit. Honestly.
Widow Wake My Mind is possibly the worst song in existence. And the others, while not quite as bad, are still meager in their
offerings. SP is the laughing stock of alt music today. What a shame to their back catalogue. Even Zeitgeist was better than this.
