^^ Most of them are just melodic death metal bands. Just type in Melodic Death Metal at wikipedia. Plus, Sentenced is freakin' awesome, though Insomnium remains to be the best band ever.
EDIT: you might also like Enslaved. It's a progressive metal band, that just like Opeth leans towards black metal (death metal in Opeth's case)
Oh, and check out Opeth also :PThis Message Edited On 10.11.07

A girl I used to date introduced me to this cd when it came out. Thank God she did. Something good had to come out of that.

Meh, this is their best album, along with A Predators Portrait.

APP is easily better than this, but this is still an excellent album. Follow the Hollow, Song of the Damned, The Flameout, Black Star Deceiver, all great songs. There really aren't any bad songs here, though The Bringer and Mercury Shadow aren't quite up to the other song's standards.

Their earlier stuff was more similar to it, this one is more of what IF are doing now with Come Clarity and such.

Definitely a classic. It gets a 5 and I am also anxious to see the direction this band takes now since both wichers and frenning are gone. The new album Sworn to a Great Divide is so so.

YESSS. Natural Born Chaos is by far the best Soilwork album, and is my third favorite album of all-time. This album clearly marks the pinnacle of Soilwork's career. A Predator's Portrait hints at the greatness to come, and the albums that fallow NBC just seem to taper off into the distance. It's sad knowing Soilwork can never release an album as good as NBC again, but they have come close with Sworn To A Great Divide, which is better than FNF and STD.

I agree there, Lethal, NBC is definitely their best work to date. The whole album flows effortlessly and the songs are all brilliantly structured. Fave tracks - As We Speak (love that intro/outro), The Flameout (reigning everyWHEEEERRRREEEE *goosebumps*) and No More Angels (THAT solo!)

I could have bought this cheap used and now I'm regretting it.

This is definitely the last Soilwork album that was really good. What Devin Townsend provided this band was beyond comprehension. It's just too bad that after this album that they tried going in this route, and it just never sounded the same. Good melodies and songs.

Tenfootbrett shouldn't be talking since the one review he did was rather biased itself...and Follow the Hollow is fuckin awesome.

Somehow I can't just make myself listen to more than three songs in a row from this album after finishing The Chainheart Machine. This thing is just too inferior to that one.
