The man named his kid Apple. There has to be something wrong with you for your only child to be named Apple. I didn't mean that he was a fag literally, and I realize that came off a little bit harsh. He can't really sing very well, either. To each his own. You can like Coldplay all you like, but I will always hate them.

Whoever said Chris Martin is fag is a dickhead. They don't use too much piano, that's like saying AC/DC use too much guitar. They have a pianist...they use him to great effect and this is a phenomenal debut. So screw you

Au contraire. Every single rock band to every exist has used guitar, therefore it cannot be overused. AC/DC have a guitarist. In your own words, Knoxvillelives: "So screw you"
Hah.

Hey guys, let's try to keep this clean. I retorted to mazz567 a few weeks ago, but Med57 was right. Let's not fill this site with more negative comments.

Mazz567, I really dont get your argument, but Im not gonna try and come back, it's a waste of space.
I think my main problem was with ur comments on naming his child Apple, that kind of stuff annoys me.
Chris Martin gets a lot of stick, I think mainly because he is following a similar sort of path to Thom Yorke in his political expression, but why can't Chris Martin believe in what he does for MTF or whatever he's doing these days? He's doing a good thing, even if his motives were selfish ie. for publicity, what's the problem? He's doing work for a charity
Parachutes is ace
Don't want to get off topic you know

Wonderful review. To somebody who has never heard the album, that might be what propels them to buy it. After reading your review I just had to listen to the album again. Ah, such great songs. I think they are all great tracks and fit together as a whole. My favorite song is Yellow, but not for its fame. See, the only Coldplay song I knew at the time of this purchase was In My Place. I actually bought Parachutes and AROBTTH together, at a discount. Yellow really stood out for me, and I am glad that it got the fame it did.

Coldplay's best (and their only really GOOD) album. My favorites are probably Shiver, Yellow and We Never Change, but every song is built very delicately with intriguing guitar lines that reveal more upon repeated listens.
Unfortunately these great guitarbased tunes had to drastically make way for mediocre piano compositions on the next albums.

I hate that Coldplay tendency to not use cool guitar riffs beneath all the piano wankery. It feels like there is some oomph missing.

can't see why everyone calls this their best. on this album they seem to me like a band that doesn't have the slightest clue what they're actually doing. I prefer A Rush of Blood and Viva la Vida to this one any day.
Trouble is a beautiful song though.
