Lyrics are pretty lame, good review but I disagree on most of the things you say.

I disagree with most of what you said, but you gave some pretty good arguments which made me think about the album a bit differently. Good stuff, pos'ing.

Converge has been releasing similar material for many years successfully, but they have a completely different "vibe" than DEP. Converge still has a do-it-yourself and underground attitude whereas Dillinger smells more and more like sellouts all the time.

And the band has changed drastically since Calculating Infinity and one person will never make or break a five member band - that is just ignorant.

If Dillinger had been rehashing Calculating Infinity for all these years they would probably have as much of a cult following as Converge, but they made mainstream rock songs, worshiped Faith No More, and went soft - regardless of what the staff here says.

isn't Converge on a major label? and didn't they have like 15 guest spots on their last record? not saying that DEP's sound isn't more commercial, I just don't think it's fair to say this album contains nothing new. It's not like they've released 4 other albums just like this one, really, Miss Machine is the only one that sounds similar to this.

The whole "sellout" thing is tiresome and I don't think thats what they're doing here, by any means.

I'm hoping Vegeta wasn't talking about me then, because I love that show.

Almost as much as I love this album. Room Full of Eyes is the new favorite for me.

Can't agree with the notion that each new album should require a total reinvention of the band or the genre. To do it once in a career is remarkable. To hold a band to that impossible standard with each new release is presumptuous and a guarantee of too-high expectations.

Agree that the lyrics are weak (far weaker than Miss Machine, which I think was the high point for that), but the criticism seems self-defeating. Can't reinvent a genre every time you sit down and play.
