Why are people not verbally masturbating about See on see?
That shit is reeaaal.
|

that's different. to me, saying "But don't expect to be entertained/enthralled in the slightest." implies that there is nothing to be entertained/enthralled about on this album, but if even one person is entertained/enthralled, this statement is false.
anyway arguments on the internet are pointless because no-one ever admits they are wrong so I'm not going to bother.
lol this post flew under my shit radar wow bad

that was wonderfully retarded

Nice observations, Adash. This is one of my favourite albums of the year, and...one of Autechre's finest acomplishments.

I'm very surprised at the reviewer for not at least taking into account the lack of drumbeats, the constant shifts in tempo and the incredibly dynamic way in which the songs are structured.
While the dark undertones have been dampened, they're replaced by this experimental uncertainty and the growing feeling of everything just fitting into place.
This review seems to be written in the perspective of the past, I'm going to go and read the other one and see if that's any better, otherwise I'll write one from the perspective of someone who thinks most of Autechre's old LP's are incredibly overrated (and two cases the opposite).

I'm not sure approaching a band's 10th album hoping it sounds like their 2nd is really a good foundation for a review. Autechre has become something very different then they were during "Amber" - they've had 13 years of experience programming and developing musical theory to take such a leap backwards. It's fine if you don't like their "academic" work - but don't compare it to something they did 12-13 years prior and say it has no entertainment value... Can't a band evolve?

Just started listening to Autechre recently, i'm liking this and Tri Repetae the most so far. I reckon i'll probably give this a 4 or 4.5.

Overwhelming stuff after the first listen, but surely some great stuff. Love the overall spaced out vibe of this compared to other stuff in their repertoire ~
