Agreed Payne they're really consistent but this is probably my heads and shoulders favorite. Late Goodbye is pretty awesome though.

Oh how I love this site, and love people like you, writing reviews of bands and albums I have never heard of.
Great stuff, very impressive album.

Good revied, pos'd & agree with pretty much everything you said except maybe for the rating, which a think is a little too high.
|
| |
yeah this might be more of a 3.5, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt back when I wrote this cause all their other albums are 3.5s and this is definitely a fair deal better. glad to hear you like it though

Never seen their previous stuff, I'll be workin on that soon too. So you say this is better? Lyrically
I've seen beautiful sentences in other previous songs; here lyrics are kinda meh except for one or
another.

Album is pretty cool, sounds really original

Saaresto has always been really verbose lyrically and sometimes it's a bit tough to swallow, but I'd argue Change and Smoke and Mirrors have some of the best lyrics of anything they've done

I think Dreaming Wide Awake is probably my favorite opening track they have.

I think I agree with that, I was never into Lift as much as everyone else

Those two are good, especially the title Smoke & Mirrors. Anyway, best song here is War IMO.
|

I think I agree again. War, Change, Dying to Live and Smoke and Mirrors are my top 4. No particular order
edit: wait I forgot 15 Min Flame. i give up

Hate the the paradox 'dying to live'. Horrible, feels like done for centuries.

dying to live... dreaming wide awake... given and denied... i'm sensing a pattern

yeah the guy is pretty good at copying paradoxes of the XVIII century

Hey Roms, I finally got around to this. Not going to make my year-end list, so won't rate it just yet though. It's fairly good though... Probably a 3 (maybe a 3.5). In theory, I should like this more than I do. It's just a little too one-paced & I think they struggle when they try to take it up a notch. Also, the hooks aren't hooky enough. And I hate to say it, but I sensed a few Meatloaf moments!
|
| |
Aw Davey I thought you would like this a bit more, but 3-3.5 isn't bad. Also I think the Meatloaf comment was a bad thing but I actually have never heard a song by him in my life strangely enough.
|
| |
You've never heard 'I would do anything for love"? Wow.

The name rings a bell...

Still my favorite album of theirs. War and Dying to Live never get old.
