It's a good, solid album. They've changed a bit, but i still dig their sound.



Obviously not as good as Reinventing Axl Rose, but i think it's on a par with ATEC.

Ok i think we're all in agreement that garrett's a jackoff. Crappy review we all understand. I dont really know against me except for my brief but paiful interaction with them at the Green Day/Jimmy Eat World concert at Giants Stadium.

Someone please write a better review of this album so we can get this jackoff's piss stain off this website.

The reviewer's opinion on "selling out" and going poppy baffles me.



MUSICIANS PROGRESS!!. One of the most pivotal elements of making music and keeping it fresh is to constantly refine one's sound. The best of modern music have done this: Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Clash, Fugazi, Radiohead. Those who don't and churn out the same album every 2 years are complete hacks.



IMO, Against Me! made a natural move here. The band has a strong folk/country element to their sound: they have a strong reliance on melody, jangly rhythms and rich narrative structure in their lyrics. Thus the move to a more roots-rock feel is very smooth. The album in my opinion is not as good as Reinventing Axl Rose, but it is great none the less. The production manages to be bright and punchy, yet understated to emphasize the rawn timbre and instrumentation. The sonic template is much broader and the song structures keep their raw simplicity.



So far I have to say that this one of the best punk albums of the year. And who cares if they go pop? You say "selling out" and pop music as if its always a bad thing.

GarretCivilCrisis you're the frecking idiot because you chose to waste your time by making an acount here on mx and chose to waste everyone elses time reading your damnbad reveiw of a band you seem to think are the only respectable bands on mx, but then call them sellouts.

It was a pretty vague review and only seemed to amount to 'they have a video, thus they sold out, thus i cant like them' which is a bit stupid.



I agree that the album is well below the par of its predecesors though, simply because the majority of the songs are just average.

ok first of all, this was the shittiest review. how can u say every song is boring??? just because a song is slow doesnt mean it is boring? violence ya its a slow song but it has a lot of emotion in it. the song justin corny politics?? are you kidding me? its about his friend dying in iraq how is that corny polictics? and how low is about him giving up his coke addiction. before you give a review maybe you should understand the songs a little better. and if you hate it soo much y would u spend the time to write a review??

Man, that Garret CivilCrises must be a real @$$hole, judging by his unnecessary use of profanity.

Anything Against Me! has ever written kicks the fuck out of pretty much every other punk band. I have a love affair with this record. Calling this record excellent is a criminal understatement. Sure, they arent the band who wrote Axl Rose or even As The eternal Cowboy, but this album is flat out excellent.

So fuck you and your mediocre review.

Work to that kno_kontrol haha Against Me! is playing with alkaline trio in april. cant wait to go. gonna be one of the best shows i've been to

Excellent album. I've got just about all of Against Me!s albums (excludin Sink.Florida.Sink). This is the album that got me into them.

6. Violence - Once again, a slow, boring as *** song that has no energy or emotion that goes on for a solid 5 minutes. This is a song I go to sleep to. That's all I have to say about Violence.
