His lyrics aren't very accessible; I find myself needing to listen to them very closely to pull out meaning, they're very catered to his own mindset and experience but I guess that's part of the fun for me. Love this shit

i might make it yeah (but probably not for a while cause I have another one planned sort of), and there would be lots of La Dispute haha. i had to cut down their contribution to the list from something around 10 to something more reasonable.

yeah i've listened to all eternals deck and some of this and a few other songs here and there. i like the mountan goats but i'd listen to them more if darnielle didn't always do that thing where he says a line really fast and then stops abruptly without holding the last syllable long enough. it gets on my nerves for some reason.

and wow 10 la dispute entries, now i've really got to see this haha. have you seen them live? i'm kind of a fanboy but it's the best live show i've ever seen, like it was a legitimate emotional experience for me.

all Mountain Goats is essentially just Darnielle, but yeah especially his early ones. i still refer to his as a band though.



and yeah i saw them live it was sweet, they were playing with AOF and it was one of the best shows ever (AOF's, though La Dispute's was awesome as well -- there were under ten people on the floor and even fewer that knew the lyrics, so i got the mic once during Said the King... It was a short set though)

oh yeah one of my favourite five bands for sure.



the new album just dropped and it spurred a recent hike in my obsession with all his music. (this happens quite easily with The Mountain Goats I find) they have 18 LPs, I have heard all but the first 3 now.
