also, war machine opens the album so so well its disgusting they didnt put it at the top of the original release
|
| |
Definitely agree with that, though Calling All Stations was a solid opener.
Had they released it like this originally, this could have been my album of the year for 2009.
|
| |
Haha, you jokers saying this is better than the original. Surely you jest... Surely.
|
| |
It's true, Davey.
|
| |
Jared, don't get me all wet with your jesting... Lower my expectations please.
Actually, in all seriousness, if the additional songs are that good, why the hell wouldn't they just leave them for the next album?

These fit nicely with the mood and direction of this album. Fightstar seems to change from release to release, and maybe they want to try something different. They also write a ton of songs, each of their singles has about two or three new b-sides.
It comes down to really just being a way to attract fans to the release though. Otherwise, why would anyone who has heard Be Human already care about this? The track list is just about perfect this time too.
|
| |
Yeah, the only thing I can think of is that they are going to significantly reduce the orchestral elements on their next album.
I understand your point, but this has happened to too many British bands before (even Oasis). Use up great songs for B-Sides & bonus tracks & then release average albums next. I'd prefer no B-Sides/bonus tracks & consistently great albums.
It would also help if Fightstar albums are easy to find anywhere but the U.K!

If I am going to listen to this band tonight I should listen to _________ first?
Wait that's not a question but you get my drift.
|
| |
Romulus, I'd actually start at the very beginning... It's interesting to track their progress over the years & their debut EP/mini-LP is actually really good.
|
| |
That EP is really good, though some of their more accessible stuff is on here.
Point taken, Davey. I do have knott's support though... This is still good though and the better of the too. I hope you get to hear the new songs at some point.

Davey the original record is fantastic but the revamped track listing and the addition of the new tracks just makes the album make more sense if you know what I mean, as a complete unit. I thought the standard edition tripped up a few times on momentum whereas this just runs and runs and is wholly excellent and frequently mind-blowing awesome.
Gots to listen to this Davey. I mean holy fuck, I - ME - I - ME - I bought the new tracks on iTunes. Well worth the 5er I spent on them, then just moved them around in the track listing. Highly highly recommended.

Guys, is there anywhere I can get their 1st ep online? It doesn't seem to be anywhere. I seen it a while ago and it was at rediculas prices............
|

Didn't I say "lower my expectations"? Gee Adam. Haha. All makes sense. I only just had a read of the review now. Good stuff Jared.
What's the Sparks cover like anyway?
|

should be the first song on their player: http://www.myspace.com/fightstarmusic
Stayed away from the original, so I'm not the best judge on the quality of their cover haha.

Agreed, it seems kinda boy band-ish. But i'm not much of a fan of the original one either. As always Jared another pos from me comes your way
