Honestly I don't think it is. They do incorporate those elements, but Nitzer Ebb never were traditional Industrial artists and were either distinctly synth driven like before or attempted to add guitar work in their music in short sequences. Industrial Complex is really another step into what they've tried to accomplish with their last album before their break-up. I think you'll enjoy this it isn't like most industrial, plus McCarthy's vocals are great.

Nice review. Glad to see it featured. I haven't heard this yet, but it is on my list of things to do (I had to get through that Unter Null review first). I'll get back to you when I get a chance to hear this (I've had the promo for weeks already).

It's EBM.

So I had to look that genre up EBM = Electronic Body Music. So, yeah practically their other work can be considered that very thing and this, especially some key songs on here state "move that body" (love the catchiness of it). I had no idea there was such a genre Meatplow, people and their definitions. I'd broadly put them in Industrial, then electronic dance. Ah....the irony of me and my generalizations that bring me to that very genre of EBM.

AS far as sub-genres go, EBM is one of the bigger, more prominent ones. You should see some of the other more random genres he's thrown at me before.

I really stray away from sub-genres, they're so many of them, but I am familiar with the big ones. EBM is exactly what Nitzer Ebb and to think I initially thought they were just considered industrial; specifics matter lol.

There's also TBM... techno body music. It's more rigid, not as much of a groove as EBM and also prone to higher BPM.

Marko, get the following releases -
Front 242 - Front By Front
A Split Second - From The Inside
Die Form - Excisions
Die Warzau - Disco Rigido
Mussolini Headkick - Themes for Violent Retribution
Klinik - Melting Close + Sabotage
Sleeping Dogs Wake - Understanding
The Fair Sex - Demented Forms
If you've already heard That Total Age should get you schooled in some classic 80's EBM, Willie would be better equipped to recommend some modern stuff.

O ok sweet. I'll give it a listen, sounds pretty interesting from the way u described it.

Care to elaborate on that?

-The track "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" sounds like a filler instance that doesn't work. Despite its 3 minute track time its still a glaring hole on an otherwise consistent and calmed, raging work. I cannot understand how an album can be calm and raging at the same time, but other than that, this is a great review, probably your best ever =)
I will check this out because I've been looking for some 2010 industrial to listen to. Won't get to it right away, but soon enough I'd reckon

usually with industrial I dont appreciate the guitar work as much because a lot of times it just seems like something to fill in the spaces, so when u say that it is more synth driven it is more enticing to me. also if they throw in guitar in short sequences that could mean that they used it as more of a compliment to the music instead of something that could take away from the overall sound which i can also appreciate

Marko's comment was aimed at a troll post that got deleted haha

lol yea and Magnus those two words are contradictory of each other but it makes sense with the Nitzer Ebb. They're music is aggressive and militaristic, but there is a sense of sarcasm and playfulness within McCarthy's voice, which is why I say it is "calmed", I could probably change that later on.

haha classic mixup

This is the first Nitzer Ebb album that I've ever bothered with. I'm not sure if I like it yet. The vocalist sounds like the singer for Econoline Crush, so that's not bad.
|
| |
You said you like Front 242 so I can't imagine you not liking Nitzer Ebb at least a little bit.
|
| |
Oh, I do like it a little bit. Some of the songs are really good, but some are kind of a chore to get through (like the one playing right now -- "Traveling").
|
| |
Yeah apart from the modern production i'm not a huge fan of this album I have to say.
You should check out That Total Age, I know you aren't into thin 80's production much but it is energetic as hell and has at least a few classic songs on it.
