mommy and daddy never gave it to him, so he goes online trashing bands so he can pretend like he's having an intelligent conversation

Oh lord, you just insulted my religion.

and to add to this, the band was plenty big before Dimebag's death. They played Ozzfest, and went on tour with many popular bands. Plus Dimebag and his brother Vinnie are extremely well-known here (they're from my hometown) many people know who Pantera is before Metallica. Pantera is played on the radios quite often, saying this insults me in many ways Greenman, many ways.

You could put your scathing tounge to use on another album, it seems...

Not a bad review, but it was a bit ranty.

People seem to be pretty pissed about my "Pantera = Nu Metal" comment. Allow me to clarify. Pantera may not have been nu metal, but their formula has been a staple of the genre ever since its inception.

And with the whole "Dimebag's death and skyrocketing poularity" thing. I make it clear in my review that Pantera was popular before Dime bit the big one. Dimebag's death was just the thing that undeservedly put them in the realm of "metal gods".

Deviant.

their formula has been staple of a lot of genres.... and the fact that you are going around in circles now trying to cover up your tracks shows a lot about you and your thought process

The only relation I see is loud guitars and screaming. By that standard Converge would be nu metal too.

and lol, a lot of bands' formulas were used in nu-metal, from hardcore to punk to speed metal to death metal, and to use only pantera as the example is totally ridiculous.

shit, if you're mad at pantera about nu metal, you better be mad at every metal band that came before them because they had a part in it too. your explanation is completely biased and doesn't make any sense whatsoever

"Phil Anselmo screams, rants and tantrums his way through the majority of 12 tracks."

Whoops. But how is that possible when you had to know how many tracks were on the album to even submit a review?

I don't listen to Pantera now, but I know an error when I see one.

Other bands' formulas may have influenced nu metal, but none quite so much as Pantera. Downtuned chugging chords? Yep. Angsty "you don't understand"/"I'm so tough" lyrics? Check. Formulaic song structure? Mmmhm.

Oh shit! Black Sabbath must have been Nu Metal because they played downtuned chords and were "angsty" (see: "They're tired of being pushed around and told just what to do" from children of the grave).
