Two things I don't like about this review:
"almost all of those evil Norwegian black metal acts owe their existence to the Frost (as well as Bathory, Venom, and Mercyful Fate)"
I disagree...didn't Venom and Mercyful Fate release albums well before Celtic Frost?
"the guitar solos are as sloppy as ever"
The entire album is as sloppy as ever....
In general, you did a good review but I'm still not convinced this is anything but a complete musical disaster.

This album proves why being avant garde and experimental does NOT make you a good musician. What makes you a good musician is crafting good SONGS, not just checking off boxes like "erotic female vox sung in French," or "totally random new wave cover except with shitty vocals." It tries, but in the end it fails horribly.

I love this album mainly for it's brilliant experimentation and many Avant-Garde influences, but also the idea that near enough every song sticks with you for a long time. Many songs here are obvious highlights, but 'Tristesses de la Lune' and 'Rex Irae' are among my favourites. The band's best album in my opinion.

not as bad as some people are making it out to be, but its not as good as the new album or the first 2 imo, the instrumental's are great but the Rozz Williams-esque vocals are cheesy and do not fit the band and music, and the songs don't have as much of a kick either

This record is a synonym of the term "avant-garde", period.

Fuck, I might just redo the review for this, it's shit.
Loving this atm, awaiting some bullshit comments like, "this sucks cuz it's experimental".

This is different but it still piles on the awesome, despite some of the odd choices of influences. Let's put it this way, it ain't no Cold Lake.
