Congrats on 100 to the Downer! ...not interested in this. That is to say, listened to the stream repeatedly at work, was pleasant enough but not my thing.

Given that Jaga Jazzist started as a Nu-jazz band and have been one on all their albums, except What We Must, it's no surprise that they've gone back to writing things down.
Which I'm incredibly happy about, they’ve regained the layered intracity that made their first two albums so much fun to listen to.

“Toccata” is the best here. I want more "Swedenborgske Rom" though and less elevator-ish floating-around-without-much-power bullshit. disagree with the "music for smart people" part though... if this is what smart people are supposed to listen to then I'm dumber than that IQ test came back

i am working on learning how to play this album, and good god there is a lot going on
still don't understand why this doesn't get more praise, if people like things like dillinger escape plan because it's super crazy technical, i don't get how this isn't considered amazing.

I have this on vinyl singed by 3/9th of the band haha. I took it to my local Universities weekly show that focuses on local jazz acts (and bands that were playing in the area - theyd just played the Vancouver International Jazz Festival). it was sweet.
